Re: Jack Cork
Great booking tonight tbh. We can cope without him for the Reading game whereas I’d rather not be without him at Sheffield United and against our nearest and dearest. I know you can’t pick and choose games but it looked like being inevitable at some stage and it should allow us to try out a different partnership/formation in midfield to add another string to our bow.

Not at all it’s just Dyche fans ( he has now left the club you know) are triggered because his bully boy tactics dropped our best midfielder for westy kicking aimless balls 40 yards into the air.

Re: Jack Cork
Be a tough guy to replace but hopefully Cullen will be fit for Reading and Bastien may get his opportunity.
Injuries and suspensions are bound to challenge every squad in the Champ but on paper we're better equipped to cope than most.

Re: Jack Cork
I’m sure he did, but I can’t remember him giving the ball away. Always in the right place, puts a right shift in on and off the ball. Class act at this level. It’s fanciful to suggest we would have comfortably stayed up had he played more last season but he’s integral to the way this side plays.

You think he did it on purpose? I wouldn't call it great at all - but I see your point. I hope also that Cullen is back on Saturday and that Beyer is OK.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:08 pmGreat booking tonight tbh. You can call it what you want. I didn’t say he did it on purpose. I said it was a great booking and I stand by the fact that he definitely needs to play certain games more than others. It also won’t hurt for him to have a rest before a tough couple of weeks.

Wind your neck in pal this Dyche loving stuff is boring now.
You’d have to be a bit of an oddball to be in thrall of someone that fostered a bullying culture in the club marginalising some of our best players for reasons only he knows.
Not a big surprise they all got cleared out including the physio can’t you put two and two together?
Do you support bullying of grown men? Says a lot about you and that other poster really. No I don’t respect bully’s never will thanks.

The loons can even drag a thread about Jack Cork into their favourite pastime.
Comes across a bit odd people saying stop going on about Dyche while continually going on about Dyche themselves.

You are going to have to explain that one to me, I am struggling to go so low that I understand your post.
Why am I being paid to post by someone and from the safety of a keyboard ? Who is paying me ?

Re: Jack Cork
Last season I thought he was passed it-slow, got caught on the ball, and not physical enough. THis year he has been a major influence on the team. I think the turning point was one of the early fixtures where VK started him on the bench, then brought him on at the start of the second half and stated we had missed Jack's influence in the first half. Its compliments and recognition like this that can lift players confidence. Having watched a lot of the championship this season he is one of the best all round and composed midfielders in this league. THe Championship and new manager definitely suit him

Re: Jack Cork
We’ve had some very good performances in the absence of Jack, but for me, there is no doubt that our speed of play, pivots, ball turnovers and effectiveness as a side playing through the units STILL remains much better when our captain is in the side.
I totally understand that he is probably being phased out… I get that… but regardless, we play better when he is in the 11 generally!
He is proving hard to replace these last couple of seasons.
Bring Jack back!

Re: Jack Cork
Not for me. Our most complete performances (PNE, Huddersfield, Wigan at home) have come without him. Cullen, JBG, Brownhill 3 at Boro I reckon.
Re: Jack Cork
100 per cent agree with Robbo. Actually think vince has got team wrong for last 2 matches. Cork and Jgb have to start each game .

Re: Jack Cork
I have said a couple of times on here recently that some of our best performances this season have been when we played Jack Cork, Cullen and Brownhill in midfield as a threesome. With these three on the pitch we are more solid, we move the ball forward more quickly through the lines and Jack is perfect for finding that intricate, forward pass near their box. He also makes Cullen and Brownhill play better as well as offering an outlet for our centre backs to pass to.
If he is being phased out, then we will need to sign a couple of good central midfielders for the PL, because Cullen and Brownhill on their own might struggle at a higher level.

Re: Jack Cork
This is one of those situations when the stats tell the truth. For a few seasons now our record with Jack has been better that our record without him. Dyche really got tripped up with that, leaving Jack out cost him big time, he always realised his mistake though, at times, too late.jdrobbo wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 7:07 pmWe’ve had some very good performances in the absence of Jack, but for me, there is no doubt that our speed of play, pivots, ball turnovers and effectiveness as a side playing through the units STILL remains much better when our captain is in the side.

Brownhill (who I’m not knocking) is half the player in a holding midfield role but offers more energy charging up the pitch. At times though we miss Jack’s nous and craft against the better teams.
This season Jack missed Watford both home and away - we got 1 point from 6 and only due to a late leveller. When Jack came on at half time against Watford it changed the game we just couldn’t get the leveller.
I have no doubt a powerhouse is targeted for next season and Jack is being phased out, and as it is obvious we are winning the league it is a good chance to blood the players who may have a future with us in these crucial games and develop an edge in them. But if Jack doesn’t play, we get fewer points. It is that simple.

Re: Jack Cork
We were not balanced last night. Josh played well but he likescharging up the field where we already had Benson, Barnes, Zarourry, Tella. It meant a lot of sidewards passing by our back four at times painful to watch

Re: Jack Cork
When neither Cork nor JBG play, it limits the options from the back line. Brownhill isn't comfortable taking the ball off the back line really.

Re: Jack Cork
When I looked at a starting line up of Barnes, Benny, Anas and Tella I thought we would rip them apart last night.
Without being greedy, can we just have 1 game with Anas and Bensen both hitting their peak.

The gap between the Premier league and the Championship is huge.
The gap between Cork and JBG and the average Championship player is huge.

Brownhill and Cullen are both better than the present day Jack Cork for me.

I mentioned this on another thread, the set up last night, with 2 midfield players, allowed Sunderland to press our back line. If we had included Cork or Gudmundsson, it would have been far more difficult.

It didn’t, but I’d still argue that Brownhill and Cullen have offered more this season.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 8:56 pmIn hindsight, playing what on paper looked almost a 4-2-4 didn't really work.
Re: Jack Cork
Ageee, didn’t work at all last night. Anaas off the boil and didn’t work centrally, benson not in the game, Tella on the left didn’t work. We didn’t exert enough control in the middle - hence Jack (or Johan) should play with Cullen (imo)
