Dyche comments on Cornet
Just read the below comments on Cornet. You would think he has never touched a football before, not a lad that has been playing champions league football for the last few seasons. The comments about his English are a little concerning, did we not understand what level of English he could be speak?
“He has had one training session and our history with players suggests that we make them and not break them. I think that is the key, making him a Burnley player and allowing him freedom to do that but I think it is a big ask to have one training session and then be thrown into Everton away. It is about getting him used to the group and familiarised with how we work. We will do some analysis with him and educate him. and his English has got to improve as well. It might take a little bit of time but we are happy with that signing and we will integrate him into the team quickly”.

How do other clubs get on when they sign foreign players? In Dyches early years I thought he spoke really well, in recent seasons he has become baffling. I still think he is the man to keep us up, but ultimately I don’t think he is the man to take us forward.

Dyche is still our best bet as manager he just needs to trust all his squad and vastly improve his game management with better use of subs.If we had been 3 up v Everton that was the time for a Lennon cameo against a former club Yesterday was the time for Cornet and his pace

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Do you not think the comments just make sense? The lad has just arrived, there’s a vocal
Minority of Burnley fans who make snap judgements on players then never relent in giving them a hard time, and this lad has been hyped behind the pale…. Is this Burnleys best ever player…. I think was the recent question on here. He will be bedded in properly.
Not thrown in, on the back of. 1 training session, having played in Africa and suffered a dead leg.
Patience is a virtue.

They already have a mixture of players so the chances are someone can help them integrate. They also have means in place to help players.. translators, paid language lessons etcgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 6:51 amHow do other clubs get on when they sign foreign players? I said before how soon he features depends on how much Dyche likes what he sees in training. If he's a favorite then it will be no time. If he's not then who knows.
It's a good sign he was already on the bench.

I do hope Newcastle’s tears haven’t kept him awake all night, kids need sleep
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I think most people on here thought there was no chance he would start and probably wouldn't feature at all. I thought it was very naive from those who were insisting he should be in the starting 11 - was never going to happen given how little time he had spent with the squad.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Other teams seem to have no qualms about chucking newbies straight in.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I get what Dyche is saying but perhaps 10 minutes at the end so we st least see him wouldn't have hurt.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I think he’ll be in next game.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I think Dyche makes a lot of sense. It’s also a big upheaval for the young man, a little patience will hopefully bring its rewards. Incidentally had we won last night I don’t think many would have been concerned about his comments.

Remember the time we threw Fox, Brady and Defour in straight away.
Not exactly bad experiments eh?
Even if given 10 mins in a lost PL game, I think the lad would have gained a good first experience of what is required in the PL

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Basically saying it is my way or the highway. He's the boss and has earnt that tag so fair enough.
It's on Dyche's shoulders if the signing doesn't come off but with a 5 year contract I suspect this was the plan all along. Remember our wingers have to learn to defend, I reckon that's what he means like Defour has recently said. He has to learn how to win in a defensive 4-4-2 style, one that he will never have played before.
I hope the optimists aren't getting their hopes up of a change in style. This is Dyche here, stubborn as hell, fixed in his ways and hardly changes things.

The one thing I do not get about this board, is you are not allowed to be critical of a team that has won 4 times in our last 24 games.
I appreciate Dyche is a fantastic manager but we are not even doing the basics well now. This has a very similar feel to when we lost at home to Everton the other season.
An emergency meeting is urgently needed to turn things around.

yes it's time for an emergency meeting...urgently.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Wasn't expecting Cornet to play last night. One training session probably isn't enough.
I wrote on another thread. The way Dyche talks about integrating new signings into the system etc etc... He makes it sound like it's 1970s Ajax. It's 4-4-2 with a bit of a press. I'm sure Cornet will be reyt.

Fair criticism is all well and good, in fact it's part and parcel of the game, however last night there were some bellends on here calling for Dyche to 'feck off'. Some of our fanbase need a reality check, either that, or keep off the sauce for a while.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:47 amThe one thing I do not get about this board, is you are not allowed to be critical of a team that has won 4 times in our last 24 games.

If he's not ready why name him on the bench ??????
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Made sense given we can name 9 subs so he could get the earliest possible feel for the new surroundings and culture.

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Cornet isn’t just a nice to have that we can keep in reserve. We desperate for an injection of pace and/ or creativity and have been for some time. Even an alternative from the bench. Whilst he does need to bed in we are fast losing games due to our one dimensional tactics and inability to change a game. We’ve signed an injured player and one that is not deemed ready to play even though he’s played international football. Hence there’s no improvement on the pitch. Let’s just hope Dyche doesn’t turn him into another Lennon.

If we cannot get Cornet "ready" for the Arsenal game there is something wrong in the way we think and operate. I sometimes think Dyche would like to bed Ronaldo in had we bought him-look at his impact on Saturday

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Couple of mentions of "patience" on here. Reading this board and social media it is quite clear this is not in the vocab of quite a few Burnley fans - every game must be a win, every player should perform at 100% every game, apparently. Some players have become s4it overnight. Dyche is now a crap manager. Kneejerk comments constantly outweigh patience and "big picture" outlook.
The detailed knowledge from some fans on Cornet and his ability to just walk in to our team is amazing. I'm being honest saying I hadn't even heard of him before we were linked to him so I'm unsure as to how anyone knows he would have done a job for us last night?

Not fussed about cornet as the team are creating chances he needs to worry about Taylor and get Pieter's in.

But the way we operate has proved very successful over the last few years so is it all that wrong? Also comparing Ronaldo to Cornet is, being polite, laughable.warksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 9:23 amIf we cannot get Cornet "ready" for the Arsenal game there is something wrong in the way we think and operate. Problem being you live for whinging. You watched the whole game last night you said, yet looking at your posts not once in the first half did you comment on here while we were the better team. You had nothing to say when we took the lead, the minute Everton score you go into overdrive crying about everything and anything while continuing you boring agenda with Brownhill. Most can accept last night wasn't his best game but your comments against him are just plain stupid.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 8:47 amThe one thing I do not get about this board, is you are not allowed to be critical of a team that has won 4 times in our last 24 games.

You then continue making dumb comments after the match and first thing this morning. For someone who doesn't go to games, contributes nothing to the club and doesn't enjoy watching us, it is very hard to understand why you watch when it clearly sends you over the edge.

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
The fact that he was on the bench doesn't necessarily mean there was a chance of him being used. He was probably there mainly to be talked through the game and learn more about the way we play. That said, depending on how things go in training this week, he may well feature against Arsenal.superdimitri wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 7:17 amThey already have a mixture of players so the chances are someone can help them integrate. Who's place will he take? Well, even though Gudders provided an excellent cross for Mee's goal, I suspect it may be him.

Imagine city spending 100 mil on a striker from south america who cant speak a word of english
Do you think he would be on the bench integrating for weeks?
No he would play the 1st game available

Very very few managers would ever just drop a player in after 1 training session . He’s only just arrived in a new country . SD giving him a feel of the set up etc .I’d expect he’ll give him a sub debut against Arsenal

You really think City would play a man after days in the country and 1 light session ?? . I’m sure if you dig around you’ll find something, but your surmise is nonsensical
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Understandable that he didn't play after 1 training session.
But we know what SD is like. It will be a forced move due to injury to make the decision for him.

He should be fit enough to play as would any signing city would make.
Hes jus played internationally and prior to that lyon as has any other player.

In the previous 7 we lost 5 and had 2 draws.
We survived.
The season before, we had 3 wins out of the first 8 games, but then went on a 3 game run of losses etc.
We generally don't start the season well, you should know this and take it into consideration every single season when we don't start well, but for some odd reason you don't and just go straight to the panic button.
Have a different opinion by all means, but look at our recent seasons at the very least because tbh all it does is make you and many others just look odd

Honestly I think my comments are fair, others I think have been much more radical than I. I don’t want Dyche to leave and I appreciate he is mostly working with his hands tied.
Difficult to say I don’t contribute when I have attended three games so far season out of 5. That is also after having a season ticket for years.
Let’s be honest the team deserves criticism, we are on shocking run stemming back to January. I think my criticism has been fair, there was nothing to talk about in the first half because we did nothing. Yes I was negative in the second half purely down to the fact the team imploded.

I think all those comments are fair enough from dyche. He was clearly just there to get to grips with the matchday routine and squad. Hopefully helped welcome him - I did see a big Ivory Coast flag in the away end on sky which is a nice touch.
It is true that he is moving into a completely different culture and language and will take some time. But the good thing is football is not a particularly complicated game, and I’m sure we may see him in action against Arsenal from the bench.

In a two he is next to useless, offers the team absolutely nothing. The amount of times he gave the ball away in advanced positions was really poor for a professional footballer.
