Chris Hughton

Post by Quickenthetempo » Wed Sep 15, 2021 10:18 pm

Set to be sacked at Forest after being booed off tonight.
Bottom of the league and looking hopeless.

I thought he was a decent manager who was unlucky in his early career but he gets sacked more than potatoes.

Got a bit gobby about us while Brighton manager as well.

Forest is a car crash of a club - 23rd year out of the Premier League and seemingly going nowhere under Marinakis. Brought in the forward thinking American CEO from Barnsley a couple of months ago but he's believed to be considering his position because his predecessor is still involved making decisions. it's like sacking the manager, bringing in a new one while the old manager keeps making decisions.

Amazing achievement back in the day. And Burnley fans still go on about our past glories. We ain’t any different from any other football fans.

Exactly, a team with the history that Forest have had really should be in the top league. I hope the club sorts itself out soon and start heading back to where we would all like to see them

I've no animosity to Forest, I lived in Nottingham 1978-83 and enjoyed watching them (as well as County and Notts CC) - would like to see them revive. There's obviously an ownership problem but I do wonder how Hughton gets cut so much slack. He's had 53 games in charge there now, 14W, 17D, 22L.
Neither is there any sign that he's taking them forward at all.

He needs to find the "right club". His days as a manager will be very limited but if he can find a club where him and the owner have some mutual trust then I think he will perform a lot better. WAs great at Brighton and Newcastle

Thankless task trying to get Forest back in the Premier league,I'd have Hughton at our club in a heartbeat if Dyche went, good manager and a good man who has been treated badly by a few clubs.

Just read this. Feel for him a very decent guy. I also feel this 'could' be an opportunity for our manager. It is a drop down as things stand, but with him there the only way would be up. Big club too.

Dyche wouldn't touch that job, it's a poisoned chalice.
They've been outside the top flight for 22 yrs, had a ridiculous number of managers and spent a even more ridiculous amount of money

The night jay rod missed the worst penalty ever , their fans showed they had a good sense of humour . First they sang we were xxxx because we'd ( at the time) only scored once against them , and then " let's pretend that we have scored " and all jumped around celebrating .

33 Managers since Clough Left in 1993. Show's how unstable the club has been off the field.

Feel for Hughton, still a decent manager at the right club.

Not a surprise, but I can't see firing Hughton helping Forest much, as has been pointed out they've binned countless managers over the past couple of decades, and yet they're still languishing at the foot of the Championship.

I keep hearing Forest are a big club, well maybe so, but so arguably are Sheff Wed & Sunderland, and they're both currently in League 1, which could well be the fate of Forest next season.

They might have won the European Cup over 40 years ago, but those successes count for nothing.

Startling fact or maybe it isn't, since the formation of the PL, Nottingham Forest can only boast 5 seasons at the elite level, hardly befitting their supposed status as a big fish those numbers.

Whoever does take up the reins I wish them luck, because with that ownership they'll need it.

Apparently they're in talks with Cooper, but Nixon claiming Swansea would be owed huge compo....I'm guessing because he left the club by mutual consent?

I take the point that it’s a massive list, but a few on there must just be caretakers for a couple of weeks.

There’s two who looked to be join managers that lasted about a month, one that looks like he was in charge six days (Adams), one four days (Ireland).

Yes your right given the current ownership and circumstances. Yet under different circumstances it would be a good fit. As you will know both he and Ian Woan have played at the club. Former European cup winners. How the might can fall under poor mangement.

I don't think Billy Davies saw eye to eye with anyone, and definitely not with SC either. I am told there were a lot of huge sighs of relief at Forest when he left the second time.

Our manager along with his assistant and first team coach are all Forest people but all three are also sensible enough not to want to go near that car crash of a club.

Since Nigel Doughty passed away they've not had much luck with owners, first the clown Fawaz all Hasawi and then Evangelos Marinakis from Olympiacos.

How much did they want for Lansbury, buying a player off Forest is nearly as hard as buying a player off WBA or maybe that should be the other way around :D
