Let the game flow, was an enjoyable watch 2nd half. Can't be mad about either booking.
The penalty is a weird one, the keeper clearly wins the ball but catches Vydra on the follow through, is that a foul? who knows these days, judging by my rules of ''if the player gets the ball, no foul'' then it's probably not but the games soft these days.

Except if it's the Burnley keeper against Leeds last season -------media darlings win every time.

I can't remember what Pope did against Leeds, if you meant the Leeds keeper at their place I think that was just incompetent refereeing, this one today is a genuine weird one because Ramsdale wins the ball, so god knows what the rule is.

Bamford through, Pope wins ball, Bamford falls over. Quickest VAR check ever by Oliver

I can't remember that incident but I think they just make up the rules as they go along tbh.

According to some on here it is. Well if Tarks makes a tackle anyway.

Absolute shite gave us nothing including the stonewall penalty and ignored shirt pulling and tripping
A very soft free kick for the game to be gifted to them 1-0 to the referee

As annoying as it is to have the penalty overturned I think it was the correct decision.

But of course, when we were on the other end of the same at Leeds last season the incorrect decision got rubber-stamped in seconds.

I'm a big Taylor critic but it's never in a million years a penalty and he shouldn't have given it. The free kick which led to the goal was a blatant trip by Westwood and absolutely nothing soft about it. The Barnes booking was incredibly harsh

Reffed the game well today. No mistakes of note other than to award us a penalty, which from my vantage point in the JMU didn't look like one in real time and he should have booked Aubameyang for his trip on Westwood in the first half.

Why didn't we get a corner from the penalty refusal if Ramsdale got a touch ?

Forgot about that one. Can only assume that refs are instructed to restart play with a drop ball following a VAR review. However, the ball was out of play when Taylor awarded the pen, and his decision to award the penalty ended up costing us an opportunity from a corner.

Think his worst moment when he allowed 10 (Ten) Arsenal players to surround him after the penalty.
Control and Authority?

Because he blew for a penalty and therefore what happens after that (e.g. corner or goal kick) is unfortunately irrelevant.
Had he not blown but VAR had reviewed it then it would have been penalty or corner.

The ball went out for a corner before he awarded the penalty.

Yes I know, but the first incident takes precedence.

Silly rule then isn’t it. Why did Arsenal benefit with an uncontested drop ball?

I'm not agreeing with the rule, but I suppose the rule is written on the basis that the ball might not go out of play. (i.e. as the ref blows up the ball is cleared upfield. VAR over-rules the decision, how do you restart the game if not with a drop ball?).
That being said, an uncontested drop ball in today's circumstances seems unfair.

I know you’re not agreeing with it, sorry if it didn’t come across that way. If the ball doesn’t go out of play I can understand the drop ball, however I don’t know how you decide who gets to receive it uncontested. But if the ball has gone out of play then it’s just stupid that the game doesn’t restart in the same way that it would have done had the ref not made a decision.

W anker T osser ref

Stopped everything early on, as though he had been got at. Booked Barnes for...not, early on, as though it was a necessity.

Listened to countless Arsenal players whinging about nothing.
I want to see their FK again. Looked like the Arsenal player decided he would go down just about....here...tumble.

Gave us pen then removes it.

Kept pointing at watch for all the kicking away, time taken and trainers on attending to players and then, despite 7 subs, only 4 mins added.

Arsenal through and through and they need all the help they can get!
