What's the reason Brownhill is playing instead of Jack Cork?

He played well yesterday, probably the most adventurous I've seen his distribution. He was really careless against Everton though unfortunately, where he is usually neat and tidy if a little predictable.
We definitely need to be looking at addressing central midfield though over the next two windows and bringing the age down in that area.

Yes. I can't see PL clubs being interested in players such as Cork and Westwood because they are too old.
For my money the three CMs are much of a muchness, but Brownhill is the only one now at all likely to improve.
Other Premier League teams covet good players. It’s as simple as that really. It’s the reason why players in their mid 30s still find clubs. Who just re signed for United incidentally? And who else have they signed in recent years of a similar age? You don’t have an argument here.

Well first of all I'm not looking for an arguement.
2nd, we agree, I think, that Brownhill is more "signable" than the other 2, though for different reasons.
As you bring up the subject of Christiano Ronaldo: he has to be just about the fittest 34 year old ever in football,
but if he wasn't he'd still be a great signing just for marketing purposes.

This is the divide in the PL: Man U get CR, Burnley get AL ;)

Then he is a fine example of what an athlete can achieve.

Winning the ball back a lot tells you that we spend the whole game trying to do that. If we don't give the ball to the opposition as frequently those stats will change.

The player in question is the weakest of our central midfield options at retaining possession.

There is the conundrum.
exactly this - we spend far too much time chasing and defending so the stats of "interceptions" is very much open to interpretation

There's a bit of a difference between one of the best players of all time like Ronaldo and Cork and Westwood. For what it's worth Cork five years ago would have probably got a move to most bottom half premier League sides, whereas if not for us giving him a chance Westwood would have spent the last few years playing in the Championship.

I haven’t said it’s not good enough? I am merely highlighting that two interceptions a game is not going to win us games any time soon. I would prefer it if my CM could make more than two progressive passes a game.

It’s not an agenda at all, it’s an opinion. I don’t think he is premier league quality and I think there is a direct correlation between him starting games and our results.

That is exactly what it is, bit like when you started the Should Brownhill be picked for England. Nobody had claimed he should be, but when someone says no you start liking the negative comments on him. Nobody on here thinks you like him but it is very boring with your non stop agenda.

You sound like a dumped kid going on about an ex
