Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Quite looking forward to the Hammers/Manyoo game.
West Ham looking really good under Moyes, whilst Ronaldo, of course, is always worth watching.
Think Chelsea will get something at Spurs.

Brighton 1 LCFC 0
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Sounds like one of those penalties where the striker knocks the defender off balance.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Soft pen for Brighton, and why can't we get decisions like that.
Brighton do deserve to lead though, and Leicester have looked bang ordinary.
Decent contest in the other game, and I'll be if it finishes 1-1.
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Not a soft pen
It was a non pen
Maupay clearly holding Westergaard to stop him jumping. Var back to deciding who wins !!!!

2-0 Brighton, we set them up for a good season
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Brighton get a second. Excellent start by them and are 2nd as things stand. Doing a really good job is Potter.

Doesn't look like Brighton will be involved in a relegation battle this season.

Leicester equaliser disallowed for offside, Brighton certainly getting the benefit of the big calls today.

Lingard with the winner? Typical of footy for him to score on his WH return.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
astounding that the challenge by Zouma on Ronaldo isn't a penalty
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Yeah pen for west ham. but ronaldo denied a stonewall pen moments before.

Nice to see it’s not just us that don’t get pens. Ronaldo should’ve had 2 in the last 20 minutes

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
And now West Ham get one. Unreal
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Never bring on a player from the cold, to take a penalty!
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
If you look in slow mo he already going down when he makes contact, although I thought it would be givenVegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:53 pmastounding that the challenge by Zouma on Ronaldo isn't a penalty

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
What on earth were they doing, bringing on Noble to take the pen?

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
I think justice was done there with that. It wasn’t a penalty. Yes it his his arm but he is far too close there to get his arm out of the way. It wasn’t as if it was in an unnatural position.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
No way should you bring players on cold to take a pen. Not that different to Southgate in the Euros too. As for Ronaldo was already going down. 2 stonewallers for me.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
That’s why defenders put their arms behind their backs in the box , 100% a penaltygandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:56 pmI think justice was done there with that. It wasn’t a penalty. Doesn’t take him out at all , he’d already dived .Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 3:59 pmagree but he completely takes him out he's so late, VAR has had a nightmare at both games so far today
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Ronaldo plays for pens all the time. Sometimes when you cheat as often as he has throughout his career it comes back to bite you in the ass.
Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Yes beats Nottingham (when both were in a same division) ans Fulham / Chelsea. I used to go up there quite often. Uniteds clubhouse is or was in a converted house round the corner from the ground in front of Bonar and Low I think it was.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Nonsense to say Ronaldo dived. Far too quick for the defenders, goes right over the defenders leg on both occasions. Nailed on pens.

Re: Today's footie 19/8/21
Frantic end to both early KO'S, and that's why the PL is so popular globally, you never know what excitement it's going to deliver.
Crazy decision to bring Noble on to take the pen, and it cost West Ham a share of the spoils.
It looked like Declan Rice was preparing himself for the spot kick, so I assume it's Moyes that made the call.
Never understand why you'd bring a player on cold to take a pen, even if he is a specialist, surely West Ham must have other players in their squad that can strike a mean ball.

He was already going down( the reason I think it wasn’t given) but contact was inevitable, that’s why I said I thought it would be given!Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 4:08 pmNonsense to say Ronaldo dived.
