Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
Which players do readers think have performed well in the first 5 games, and who have yet to gain any form
For me the better performances have come from McNeil, Taylor Tarkowski, and to some extent Mee. The ones who have been off the pace, and hopefully will pick up shortly have been Barnes, Wood, JBG, Brownhill, Westwood and even Pope has been not as consistent as previous seasons

Pope has had nothing to do.
McNeil has been our best player, Taylor good, Tarks very good.
Westwood, Barnes have been below par.
Vydra and Cornet looked hugely promising when they came on yesterday.

I don't think anyone has been at their normal level

McNeil has been good the start of this season. Tarks has been decent but not his usual level.
Westwood and Lowton have been ok.
Special mention to Brownhill, Barnes and Wood who have all been incredibly poor.

Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
Dwight and Tarks have been the best of a bad bunch, Brownhill has worked his socks off, but nobody has hit their regular heights yet, hopefully it's just an early season blip and we soon start clicking, the introduction of Cornet & Vydra should help in this respect.
Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
Taylor's been good but nearly every goal we've conceded has come from his side.
Wood needs a rest, I don't think the extra football during the Olympics has done him any good.
Mee has been all over the place so far, I have no idea what he was doing Yesterday for the goal, instead of running towards the attacker he ran into Tarkowski.
Brownhill had a very good game once Vydra and Cornet came on.
Tarkowski has been good, Goodison aside.

Only Tarka and McNeil for me
Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
Him and Vydra massively involved in the lead up to the Cornet chance, very good pass and move stuff
Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
McNeil and Tarkowski easily. Probably Taylor in 3rd place.

Lowton has impressed me. When his form dropped a couple of seasons ago I thought he was done, but shown he still can offer something. Good timing too with a new RB signed.

Tarks decent? He was superb on Saturday and the only blemish and maybe not his fault was he and Mee marking the same player when one, Mee really should have gone to Saka which might have prevented the goal. Brownhill had a good second half, when he was allowed to do what he likes to do and that is go forward.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 19, 2021 4:40 pmMcNeil has been good the start of this season. The power of "competition"-which we don't have in CMSleeping Cat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 11:24 amLowton has impressed me. When his form dropped a couple of seasons ago I thought he was done, but shown he still can offer something. Good timing too with a new RB signed.

Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
His return to form proceeds Roberts signing 3 weeks ago. Besides, he has had competition from Bardsley over the last few seasons and at times lost his place in the team.
No doubt we are light on numbers and quality for CM positions, but I also think the way we set up makes it very difficult for our CMs as the game unfolds.

Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
I find the slow starts of recent seasons confusing
At the beginning of Dyche's first full season I was stunned how fit the players were in a pre season friendly and we outlasted teams in the latter stages of games. Why the slow starts now. Last season could have been the overhang of a short summer break but what has happened to the Dyche fit mantra

Re: Who Have Been Our Star Players In First 5 Games
I'm surprised so many are saying they think Taylor has been good.
Maybe it's the charging runs forward (I can't think of one that has lead to a goal though), because his defending has been appalling at times.
I'd have him as one of the worst performers.
I don't think we've had a star so far, probably McNeil, Lowton and Tarks if I had to pick the best 3
