Best of luck to Pete Oliver
I'd just like to send Pete my best wishes in his new role. He left his role at Burnley this weekend and has become the Senior Communications Manager at Bolton Wanderers.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
He’s always seemed highly professional in his role and despite not being a Burnley fan, always represented our club brilliantly. Best wishes to him.

I hope he didn't use the "10 years ahead" cliche to explain his move......ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 11:32 amI'd just like to send Pete my best wishes in his new role. He left his role at Burnley this weekend and has become the Senior Communications Manager at Bolton Wanderers.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
I was at Curzon Ashton for the u23s when he went past and someone said he was a Sunderland fan. I told Pete about it, I think it was the only time I ever saw him when he wasn't calm and collected.
Big changes in the media department with Pete joining Daz Bentley and Adam Riding through the exit door.

Is Pete the guy who did the interviews?

We now have a new comms approach. The Board have recruited hundreds of volunteers to go round and knock on doors all over Lancs to convert people to be Clarets.

Good luck indeed, what a lovely guy and enjoyed his interviews and features. Had the pleasure of working with Pete at the Lancashire Telegraph back in the 80s

From the list ClaretTony posted above I think Adam Riding is a considerable loss along with Anthony Fairclough.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 2:41 pmSome good people with great knowledge of the club have now left, I dont know how you replace that…
I have it from very good sources that the work Adam put out was second to none. Anthony also built up a lot of good relationships with local and national businesses which have either been damaged or lost with the new approach. I suppose you only have to look at the lack of advertising around the ground to see that.
I just hope the new board know what they are doing.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
I worked with the club since 2007 and everyone was top. Especially the media team, they went the extra mile with limited resources and from the outside looking in, I think they needed backing, rather than replacing. I still work with the club but in a different, more limited way and I don't know who most of people are now. Not that I have anything negative to say about them, there's just lots of new faces. as a workplace, it also looks very corporate with everyone wearing uniformed suits.
The new owners pulled a lot of them down immediately last season and replaced them in with boards simply saying 'Burnley Football Club' on them, the most noticeable one was all the LoveBet advertising in the stadium. I think their logo only remained on the shirt because the it was cheaper than ordering a load of new blank shirts from Umbro or finding a replacement sponsor before the end of that season.
Thats because of the delayed delivery of the digital signage, static advertising was brought down to be replaced by it, but the LED hardware hasn't arrived yet. That said, a lot of the static signage in and around the stadium advertised businesses that were not even paying, either the agreement had expired and the signage remained or there was an agreement to have sponsorship in return for work in the stadium, the club used to be very stingy when it came to giving money."I suppose you only have to look at the lack of advertising around the ground to see that."

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
I spoke to Anthony before the Brighton game. He's still a claret and still going to the games. Over the years I didn't have much dealing with him but have to say I never, ever had a problem with him. Same with Adam and he did the all the player pics for us back in 2017.bf2k wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 3:07 pmFrom the list ClaretTony posted above I think Adam Riding is a considerable loss along with Anthony Fairclough.

Another long serving member of staff goes in a couple of weeks - and he's someone I have had a lot of dealings with and someone I think will be a loss.
Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
Any idea why Tony Loughlan was replaced permanently instead of temporarily while he had his operation and recovered? was that Tony's decision?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 4:35 pmI spoke to Anthony before the Brighton game. I enjoyed Pete's content/interviews, seemed a nice bloke, no idea why he'd have been replaced unless he chose to leave.

An awful lot of changes all at once can quickly change the mood around the workplace. I'm sure we'll see how it all plays out, it looks like budget cuts from the outside imo.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 5:29 pmI believe Tony made the decision. Really nice bloke too.

Good bloke is Pete.
I wish him the best of luck in his new role.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
I have lost two very good friends in Pete and Daz. Two top top guys - they used to make my annual visit to Turf Moor easier and much more enjoyable. Good luck to both of them.
Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
The club has taken the decision to outsource media and communications. Hence the departures.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
But in order for outsourcing to work, there's needs to be an internal liaison. Said person would be the source of news, media planning, and in particular corporate communications. Then there needs to be a content approver......

Not quite sure how well the outsourcing is going to work but will reserve judgement.
Can you imagine the uproar if Phil Bird was shown the door… at least he remains constant.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
The board need to be very careful, fair enough tweak, make your mark etc but you cannot buy such knowledge as the people leavingbhave, and longstanding employees do tend to go that extra mile.

Re: Best of luck to Pete Oliver
It probably unnecessarily concerns me the number of departures at the club for whatever reasoning there might be.
Sad to see Daz Bentley and Pete Oliver go as they were always good for the fans as well. Not sure, whether Pete's departure was of his own ambition, as he is now heading up all things media at the BWFC so as an higher level of responsibility probably. Or did he jump before he was pushed, anyway I often found Pete to be more than an excellent and very personable in his interview style at Turf Moor.
Good luck Pete.

Thank you for posting this I had noticed over the weekend Pete didn't seem to be around the media.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Sep 20, 2021 11:32 amI'd just like to send Pete my best wishes in his new role. All the best to another really nice bloke.
I sometimes saw him around Clitheroe market on a Saturday morning when we had a late weekend game.
Good Luck
