True but IMO we can win it without them. I’m saying we should have them available in order to get a goal if needed.
Just how many times have we lost to lesser opposition through playing a weakened team? Quite a few, I can tell you. So why not try and win the game in the first half and take our better players off if we have a comfortable lead?

Risk of injury. We aren’t that bothered if we win the game or not, so risking our best players for a long period doesn’t seem an attractive proposition. If we do play our best players and go a goal down, dyche can’t then be seen to take them off.
Also our squad is a lot larger that it has been historically, so I would hope our 2nd 11 could beat most championship sides, never mind league 2 teams. You never know though and we do always seem to play badly in the cups...

I think it’ll be the following -

Hennessy
Bardsley
Collins
Thomas
Pieters
Lennon
Cork
Westwood
Cornet
Vydra
Rodriguez

However I’d like to see Gomez-Mancini for Westwood but I think AW needs to find some form. Would also like to see Max Thompson involved some how

Couldn't disagree more. I believe that getting our first home win since January is absolutely crucial tomorrow.
Get that monkey off our back and take some form into the league.
I'd play a strong team.

I'd like to see something along the lines of the below assuming all are fit enough.

Hennessey
Bards (swap with Roberts later) Collins Thomas Pieters
Thompson Mancini (Swap with Stephens) Cork Cornet
Jay Vydra

Who won't be fit enough? (Genuinely not sure on where people are at injury wise.

Haven't Roberts and Stephens played in U23's or behind closed doors recently? Only on about them getting 20 mins or so later on if so.

I don't think? Stephens is fit, so I'm pretty sure he won't feature. I'm also not sure I'd risk Cornet as he's going to be crucial in the coming weeks. Hopefully some of the fringe/back up guys get a trot out (Bardsley, Collins, Cork, Richardson etc) but let's remember that all of us who say "give the younger lads and the fringe players a do, it's ONLY Rochdale" will all be spitting feathers on here tomorrow if we lose it and it'll be the same old "Dyche never takes the cups seriously" diatribe. We'll see.

Let’s be honest any team we put out with first team squad should be more than capable of seeing off Rochdale, they can’t beat Rochdale well…. If it’s made up with some U23s that’s a different story.

Definitely want to see Thomas at CB with Collins.

It seems strange that our ‘second eleven’ players aren’t playing serious competitive football on a regular league basis. Why not set up a Northern England second eleven league (Central League Northern 🙂).

Surely it must be better than ‘wasted careers’ playing training football all the time.

Bardslet - Collins - Mee - Pieters
Lennon - Mancini - Cork - McNeil (Sub for Cornet after 45-60 mins)
Rodriguez - Barnes

No doubt we all thought the same thing before losing to Lincoln, Accy, Port Vale, Burton etc.

Collins would learn more being partnered with Mee. Ready for next season.

Hen
Bardsley Collins Mee Pieters
Lennon Cork Brownhill/Westwood Cornet (he needs match fitness, game time is only going to help).
Vydra Rodriguez

Only risking two regular first teamers but giving a maximum of game time to first team players.

I'd be surprised if we play any u23s with first team players available. Maybe a few on the bench like Mancini and Thompson who might get a run out if we're 4-0 up after an hour.

Hennessey
Bardsley Collins Mee Pieters
Lennon Mancini Cork Cornet
Vydra Rodriguez

Subs
Norris, Thomas, Taylor, Westwood, Dodgson, JBG, Mellon

With the plan to bring on Thomas, Mellon and Dodgson for the final 30 mins or so (earlier in the unlikely situation
of the game being sewn up). Replacing Mee, Cornet and Vydra.

Would have had Richardson in the place of Mellon but injury obviously rules him out and Mellon has started the season in such good form it deserves the recognition IMO.

Do wonder if Mancini is injured or not. If he is then guess that just means giving Westwood a full 90 or putting Helm on the bench and giving him 30 mins instead of Thomas or Mellon.

Any club can have 9 on the bench, but can only bring 3 on. At least I think that's the case.

I think it's seven subs.

As for the team, I think there will be a decent number of changes from Saturday but I'm expecting an experienced team.

I mean if we don’t do these at a canter with that team there’s something very wrong. It’s Rochdale.

Would of liked to see Thomas for Tarks.

Told only 6000 expected on TM tonight and think that includes the 2,300 from Rochdale.

Decent side. As said above regardless of the opposition we need to start winning, especially at home, and soon. A good performance/win tonight could set us up nicely.

Many need minutes. Be pointless giving lads minutes without some who have been playing. Take a those that have been playing out for others, it makes it hard work for the ones coming in to get some kind of momentum. Pointless giving young lads game time because they won’t play in the big games.

*Dyche takes competition seriously.

Some Burnley Fans: Where are the young players?

Seriously the guy cannot do anything to please some people.
