Meanwhile at Trent Bridge, the "Unnaceptable Behaviours" are folding like a deck of cards..... 73-9, and still 223 behind.
What a shambolic outfit.

All that money, all those cockneys, going to finish in the bottom 2. However tough it's been recently for Lancashire, you just have to look into the land of dreariness to see how bad it could be.

Re: County Championship finale
141 all out Lancs, trail by 2, I think it's safe to say we've got a 1 innings game.
Considering we were 47-7 I'll happily settle for that outcome.

Re: County Championship finale
Now a run out for Yorkshire, keystone cop batting from them.
Bowling point for Warwickshire, Somerset 134-3 after 41 overs, we could do with them Batting for a few more sessions.

Somerset 181/4 and they're making Warwickshire fight for every wicket.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:03 pmSomerset 147/3 trailing by 220 are at least putting up some fight unlike recent games
Lancs could do with a quick wicket or two, Hants 108/5, lead already 110, and Vince closing in on his half century.

Re: County Championship finale
Vince & Dawson still together, 150/5, lead of 152, and this seems to be slipping out of Lancashire's grasp now.
A few quick wickets in the morning mind you, and it could change the whole complexion.
But Hampshire's day after an even first couple of sessions. And you'd always rather have runs on the board in this type of situation.

Re: County Championship finale
Parky gets Vince LBW for 69, just what Lancashire needed late in the day, 158-6, lead 160, but that wicket just keeps Lancs in touch heading into day 3.
Bailey gets his 5th, Dawson gone for 41.

Re: County Championship finale
Can anyone explain what the situation is now? haven't followed it closely enough, but clearly there are a number of potential outcomes.
Thanks!

Re: County Championship finale
I'll try as best I can.
In terms of Lancashire, we need Warwickshire not to take another 4 Somerset wickets in the next 33 overs, as if they earn those 2 extra bowling points, and then go on to win the match, no matter what Lancs do against Hampshire they won't be able to finish above Warwickshire.
However 2nd place would still be up for grabs, and a place in the BWT final, so there's still lots to play for despite what happens at Edgbaston.
Notts now can't win the title, but if Warwickshire don't win their game, they could still leapfrog either of Hampshire or Lancashire, if they go on to defeat Yorkshire.
Hope that explanation helps.

Re: County Championship finale
Somerset 247/6 not good news for Lancs in particular that.
New ball now due for Warks also, so they'll hope to grab these last 3/4 wickets quite quickly, and then set an imposing total for Somerset to chase.

Re: County Championship finale
6th of the innings for Bailey, who's almost single-handedly keeping Lancashire in this game.
We could do with knocking these last 2 over quickly, as anything over 200 will be a big ask given how low-scoring this match has been.

Bailey has been outstanding in this game, and he definitely doesn't deserve to finish on the losing side, but he may well do so unfortunately.

Re: County Championship finale
Gettable in normal circumstances, 2 good innings could do it, as Hampshire showed in their 2nd innings, one decent partnership can change the course of the game.
Get through the new ball without huge damage and batting does seem to become easier. But it's the new ball which has taken most of the wickets in this match, so the first hour or two will be crucial.

Only 4 deliveries of 1st over played
at least Lancs haven’t lost an early wicket in bad light

Off for bad light 4 balls into Lancs innings, that probably suits Lancs better, as batting under cloudy skies is never easy. let alone on this track.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see Lancs getting anywhere near 195.
Our batting has been brittle all season and the conditions today aren't great at all.

Re: County Championship finale
I'd make Hampshire favourites, but as I say it until needs a couple of guys to make runs, and the rest to chip in with a few here and there.Hbclaret007 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:50 amI hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see Lancs getting anywhere near 195.

Vince and Dawson showed that you can score runs on this pitch if you apply yourself, and there's a big carrot for the winners of this game, as they'll almost certainly finish at least 2nd, and therefore claim a BWT final berth.
Davies owes us a few if he doesn't want to end his Lancashire career on a sour note, so today just might be the day.
