A Somerset win would be perfect….. Lancashire finish top of the league, and Yorkshire finish bottom.

Do you happen to know what the rationale is behind the final next week? Is it a new addition? Not something I'd heard of before
It was originally set up in 2020 due to COVID affecting the normal season, and they've just continued with it for 2021, I think the rationale is it gives the county season an end of season showpiece, but it won't have any impact on who wins the CC, that all depends on what takes place tomorrow.

So in theory Lancashire or Warwickshire could be crowned champions tomorrow, but the other could win the BWT, at least that's my understanding, in practice it'll likely be washed out if the weather forecast is anywhere close to accurate.

Now whether the Bob Willis Trophy will continue next year is debatable, especially if they revert back to the 2 division format.

Unfortunately the weather has badly affected our Championship push this season.

Aren't you losing some players after the season, the Roverrrs fan and your Saffer, even Balok might get headhunted after the second miracle of Taunton.

Lost Davies, replaced with Phil Salt - bringing him back to the North West - I reckon that's a trade up. Vilas may go, as he's now an overseas rather than a Kolpak. Suspect Wells is in for the long haul now.

Weather set fair at Edgbaston tomorrow and Somerset have been fluffy in the Championship all season, so I fancy Warks to do the business, Bres will be well fired up.
He was certainly fired up against his old team last week, 7 catches and a wicket

Amazing achievement considering the number of senior players who have been lost to injury, international calls etc and the just few games have given some of the younger players vital experience which augurs well for the future.

293/3

Thought they might have to bat til Lunch to have enough runs on the board to take out the chance of a Somerset win but 115 runs in the 1st hour will probably change that

Now declared 294/3 Somerset need 272 or to bat out 81 overs.

That's gettable on this pitch if Somerset get off to a decent start, good 1st hour for Warwickshire though I have to say.

Brave declaration after Warks have smashed it about easily.

Could be a stroke of genius though.

That’ll be Warwickshire’s thinking. Give them an achievable total so they bat more aggressively and give the bowlers a better chance on what looks like a benign pitch.

All depends upon whether Somerset care

They went out like a light on t20 finals day when they had something to play for

Not sure how bad but Azhar Ali had to go off injured slipping while fielding, if he can't bat would make the task a lot easier for them.

Warwickshire don't really have any choice but to roll the dice in the circumstances though, and if they'd left it much longer, then Somerset would have simply shut up shop, plus the overs would be slipping away for them to take these 10 wickets.

Decent start by Somerset, 26/0 after 7 overs.

Need another 247 to win.

Nothing more Lancashire could have done, we won our game, and it was always in Warwickshire's hands after that.

As for Yorkshire, yet another humbling, this time by Notts.
