Seems like a surreal dream now that Rochdale and Stockport were vying to be our lower league local rivals. I remember well an ex girl friend warning me to be careful visiting Scotland because the Rochdale posse were planning a warm reception… needless to say I laughed at the thought.

My 2 favourite teams, started watching the Dale at Spotland as a kid standing on mud banks with floodlights on telegraph poles until my parents allowed me to go to Turf Moor when I was 14 in 1959.

Haha.. Spotland is more famous as Byron’s home than as a football club…. Thank you autocorrect.

See reply to Bosscat immediately above this post… but yes, don’t you love it when autocorrect helps.

One of my memories of Spotland was a preseason friendly (back in the early 90's) where my m8 Mike was having a pre match liedown in the sun (one or 2 libations were obviously involved) and Rocky standing on his foot, falling over, and landing on him (Rocky was more p***ed than my m8 Mike) Mike passed away a few years ago out in Cyprus where he had moved to, and we often joked about that and other away day memories...

A bit of a random question...but does anyone know of a website where you can find players who played for both clubs?

You’re right there Boss, ask Steve. Apparently he was accosted by kilted members of the 3rd Foot and Mouth battalion wealding a dead haggis and shouting Moira, we love you.
