Sorry 10!
Only saw the goals and heard Justice, so no marks from me.
Well done Clarets.

Pope 7
Bards 6
Tarks 5 (awful distribution tonight)
Collins 6(got into the game second half)
Pieters 6
Lennon 6 (not wide enough first half)
Cork 7
Westwood 6
Cornet 8 (should have had 4 goals mind)
Vydra 6 (slipping all over the place but worked hard)
Jay 9.. would usually be 10 but for a very poor first half

Pope 6 nothing much to do
Bardsley 5
Pieters 5
Tarks 5
Collins 5 much better late on
Westwood 6
Cork 6
Lennon 8
Cornet 8 tough to mark in that he did some brilliant stuff (assists etc) and, then he also missed some great chances and went wayward at the end of the first half. But benefit of doubt and second half much more disciplined but still positive.
Jay Rod 10
Vydra 6 tried hard but not his day by any means but still involved in a couple of good moves
Plenty of effort tonight and some good play at times. However special mention to Rochdale who I thought were good going forward and a real handful. They played some nice stuff at times, moving the ball well.

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Pope 7 - one good save and generally handled well. Kicks at times like his feet are attached to someone else's body.
Bardsley 7 - thought he had a good game tonight, was a constant outlet and pushed up really well in.the second half.
Collins 7 - looks player to me,confident on the ball and won a lot in the air. Did very little wrong.
Tarkowski 4- didnt look comfortable at all on the left hand side. A long way below his usual standard. At fault for their first and gave them their chance in the first half.
Pieters 5 - a really poor first half but much better in the second.
Lennon 5 - whilst he was creating space for Bardsley in the first half he offered absolutely no option for a pass when we got higher up the pitch. Really poor movement. Much better in the second half though and a good assist.
Cork 7 - played well throughout, one of the only players to come out of the first half with any credit.
Westwood 5 - another to have a very poor first half but improved in the second.
Cornet 7 - I cant mark him higher as he should have been coming off with a few goals today. Cant remember seeing someone miss 4 x one on ones before but his movement was fantastic. Some great delivery and really makes things happen. Just needs to sharpen up on finishing (albeit their keeper did do well).
Jay 8* - a very sluggish first 35 ot so minutes where he looked generally off the pace. Some good link up play with Vyds to set Cornet up for a one on one seemed to give him confidence and when hhe got his first goal he was a different player and seemed to get his 'zip' back.
Vydra 7 - worked incredibly hard and showed some excellent movement and a good touch, lovely lay off for Jay's third. Seemed to get frustrated in the last 20 mins or so and perhaps trying too hard. Just needs a goal.
A strange first half in which a few of the players seemed a little complacent but Cornet could have easily scored 3 goals on his own. Dyche clearly wasnt happy at half time and sent them out early. Tarks largely at fault for their goal but then some real.quality play from ourselves and a masterclass in finishing from Jay.

Pope 6 tidy save
Bards 6 rusty
Tarks 5 too many long balls
Collins 6 lazy start
Pieters 6 rusty but livened up
Lennon 7 great 2nd half
Cork 6 painfully slow but didn’t stop
Westwood 6 as per Cork
Cornet 8 always dangerous and great crosses
Vydra 6 grafted but giving him long balls ? come on!
Jay 10 4 goals and some nice touches 1st half too
Hit back well after goal and comfortable after that . JR showing he’s a class above Barnes , great movement ,touches and finishing . Just what the doctor ordered

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Just a mention for Aaron Lennon from me - he looks a completely different player when played as an attacking winger rather than the defensive one we have seen. Might have been because he was afforded more space due to Rochdale being overly concerned about Cornet - but he was quality tonight.

Bards 6
Tarks 7
Collins 6
Pieters 6
Lennon 7 - caused them problems with a bit of skill and pace
Cork 7
Westwood 6
Cornet 8 - A touch of class, the goals will come.
Vydra 6 -Frustrated, maybe trying too hard
Rodriguez 10 - regardless of the standard of the opposition, and a mediocre 1st half, he scored 4 goals...

Not criticising you at all mate but it’s strange how people see games differently. I, and others with me thought that bards was poor tonight, he looked half asleep at times. Pieters wasn’t any better.ClaretMat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 10:41 pmPope 7 - one good save and generally handled well. Kicks at times like his feet are attached to someone else's body.

Pope 6
Bardsley 7
Collins 5 but improved 2nd half
Tarkowski 5 not up to usual high standards
Pieters 6 just about
Lennon 7 great to see him running at a defence 2nd half
Cork 7 ponderous at times but some good forward balls
Westwood 6 some poor forward balls though
Cornet 8 could have had 2 or 3 goals but much of the good play went through him
Vydra 6 kept slipping and head went down a bit but an assist
Rodriguez 9 hard to give him less despite sluggish 1st half
Thought Rochdale passed the ball well for a League 2 team. Think they tired later which created more space and gave us more time on the ball.

Thought our defence struggled at times, especially the full backs.
Cornet had some really good moments and on another day would’ve been on the scoresheet a couple of times.
Vydra worked his socks off second half and Jay’s finishing was just sublime.
Word for Lennon as well - I’ve been a critic of him but he was excellent second half. More of that please, Aaron.

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Pope 6 nothing to do really, a couple of poor kicks, and the goal went in in slow motion but right in the corner
Bardsley 5 not a good night, crossing way off
Tarkowski 6
Collins 6 a bit shakey, but looked to play
Pieters 5 wants to play more, but really struggled going both ways
Lennon 7 very impressive 2nd half
Cork 6 sideways and backwards
Westwood 5 another poor game, lost the ball in the danger zone and gave away another sill free kick on the edge trying to recover
Cornet 8 quality is clearly there, very good on the ball, made some great runs, and could have had 3 or 4 himself
Rodriguez 9 cant give him any less for 4 goals, 2 we're excellent finishes regardless of opposition
Vydra 6 struggled, a few great touches and control, but often bumped off the ball, and had no real joy against a physical back line.
After quite a poor first half then the early wake up call we seemed to get a lot better and tried to force the game a bit, rather than the slow pedestrianised stuff we saw in the first half.
Lennon was excellent 2nd half when allowed the freedom to run at them and attack.
A few who think they haven't had a chance to play cant be thinking they've proved a point or have given Mr Dyche a selection headache.
But all in all a decent run out for a few, a decent night out seeing 5 goals, and a decent atmosphere.

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Thought we created loads and loads of chances, looked dangerous everytime we crossed the half way line
Should have scored more than four (Cornet could easily have had four if it wasn't for their keeper)
However, we looked a bit ropey at the back all game, though all four improved as the game went on
Home win though, and thats great

I thought Lennon was excellent and unlucky not to come away with a couple of goals. Cornet could’ve come away with a few goals too, but showed us his ability to create and find spaces that can count.
Nice to see Rochdale back in town, and judging by the away following they’ve missed us too. Although things are very different since the league cup game I remember back in 1986.
A very enjoyable night for a tenner.

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Pope 7
Bardsley 6 (some awful crossing)
Collins 6 (-1 for being being beaten ridiculously easily by a Div 4 striker when they scored)
Tarks 6 (- 1 for hospital pass to Cork for their goal)
Pieters 6 (linked up well with Maxwell)
Cork 7
Lennon 8 (did really well and looked like a proper winger for a change, but we were playing sub standard opposition)
Westwood 6
Cornet 8 (Yes he really should have scored more than once, but his sheer enthusiasm and desire for the cause is brilliant to see, never mind his undoubted strength and skill)
Vydra 4 (I really like him and for me he'd have been starting league games ahead of Barnes, but last night he was hapless and awful)
Jayrod 9
Enjoyed the game, apart from the 5 minutes when we were behind and I was thinking "here we go again!". Dale are a decent outfit with some pacey and comfortable players and for a long time it was no cake walk, despite us missing several good chances. Cornet's sheer enthusiasm and desire to impress is great to see, even in front of a half empty stadium and I just hope he gets his goal soon so he can relax a bit.

Nice to see high marks for forwards for a change, Jay, Lennon and Cornet.
Despite conceding goals, top marks normally given to our defenders - why?

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Just to let some posters know, we won 4-1 last night and should have scored 10.
In truth, it probably won't get any better this season. Cheer up.

Re: Burnley v Rochdale - Player Ratings
Enjoyable game without the pressure of the premier league.
Pope 7 – Not a lot to do. Could have been quicker with his distribution at times.
Bardsley 7 – got better as the game went on. Slow start, but finished strongly
Collins 6 – a bit nervous with some sloppy passing and should have done better for the goal
Tarkowski 7 – a couple of careless moments, but mainly in control
Pieters 6 – struggled to get into the game
Lennon 7 – I couldn’t work out where he was playing first half? Did very well second half out wide.
Cork 8 – Looked sharp and ready to start in the PL for me
Westwood 8 – With Cork, largely controlled midfield
Cornet 8 – Should have had a hat trick. Good energy and takes up great positions. A bit more composure required at times.
Rodriguez 9 -Excellent finishing – good for his confidence – I’d start him with Wood on Saturday
Vydra 6 – Lots of effort – he needs better studs to help him stay on his feet! Not his best night, but a couple of nice lay-offs.
Overall, a good workout for the team. Nice to have quality in depth. Now let’s start picking up points in the league.. UTC

Genuinely funny how ratings differ.
I only listened on comms last night but they were saying what a great game both Vydra and Bardsley had had.
