Problems at Fleetwood
Kieran Maguire has just reported: "Fleetwood Town, whose owner Andy Pilley is in court over fraud and money laundering charges, have made losses of over £20m and owe companies controlled by Mr Pilley over £21m"

I have never liked the man and the way in which he ran his businesses and am not surprised that he finds himself in this position.

Pretty sure anybody who has dealt with him or knows anyone who has will only be surprised it has taken this long for his antics to catch up with him.Volvoclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 3:58 pmI have never liked the man and the way in which he ran his businesses and am not surprised that he finds himself in this position.

Re: Problems at Fleetwood
To be honest I don't know too much about him but that's a lot of money for a League One club to be losing.

What is it that attracts such obnoxious business people to the Fylde coast such as Pilley and Oyston Jnr and Snr

Re: Problems at Fleetwood
Didn't Pilley and David Haythornthwaite at AFC Fylde, both originally want to invest in Blackpool but the Oyston's wouldn't deal with them?

Interestingly, both Pilley and Haythornthwaite are Blackpool fans who wanted to buy Blackpool FC but Oyston blocked them.

Haythornthwaite was the one who wanted to move them out of Bloomfield Road and build a new stadium next to the M55.Volvoclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:45 pmInterestingly, both Pilley and Haythornthwaite are Blackpool fans who wanted to buy Blackpool FC but Oyston blocked them.

Just to re-enforce this, Haythornthwaites holding company is called Tangerine Holdings.

for an amusing 30 minutes, google what it's like to work for Tangerine Holdings.Volvoclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:59 pmJust to re-enforce this, Haythornthwaites holding company is called Tangerine Holdings.
That said, they've made a lot of money in the last 18 months. Pet food, feeds, vitamins etc.
During Covid, he went on record to say AFC Fylde was costing him £100k a month just to keep it ticking over

I know a contractor who did some astro Turf work for Fleetwood a few years ago in order to get his final payment he had to go round with some plant and threaten to rip up what he had done.

Yes, that's the club he took over. Moved it and changed its name.

Clearly a chancer, if he’s been convicted for freud they take a very dim view of future damage claims, my former employer very nearly went back to prison and lost everything he had (don’t feel sorry for him he was a crook) when trying later to sue for defamation on an unrelated issue.Wuggawumphwumph wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 11:56 amReliably informed the bloke has done time in the past
Top lawyer to try and make the threat appear serious but it’s a gamble for someone who has previous as a lier.

I wouldn't think the Courts would be very 'Clement' with him or take the case 'Lying' downelwaclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 12:28 pmClearly a chancer, if he’s been convicted for freud they take a very dim view of future damage claims, my former employer very nearly went back to prison and lost everything he had (don’t feel sorry for him he was a crook) when trying later to sue for defamation on an unrelated issue.

Re: Problems at Fleetwood
I saw a job advert for General Manager at AFC Fylde. Even if you were in this field, after reading it i don't know why you would touch it with a barge pole.
We are seeking a General Manager to work directly alongside the Director of Football. These roles currently report directly into the Chairman and will do for the foreseeable future.
"While focussed on the general day to day running of the non footballing side of the club, the main emphasis will be on the commercial aspect of the role and developing the “Fylde Brand”.
"The successful candidate must, therefore, be able to demonstrate a successful track record in a similar role within the sporting and entertainment industry.
"Football experience, although an asset, is not a requirement but a fanatical eye for detail and the ability to write and implement a detailed strategic plan is!
"This is a ”hands on role” and requires hands on leadership from the front so “delegators” and “office dwellers” please don't apply.
"If not already apparent, we are not a Premiership Club and therefore every penny and every fan has to be fought for and respected."
"You will need to be proactive in your approach to everything. We work hard at Fylde so again don't apply if you are looking for “a work life balance” or have to pick the kids up from school twice a week at 3.30.
"You will need to live close to the club and immerse yourself in the local community at all levels.
"So, if you are a winner, up for a challenge and want to be part of a very special journey, then send your CV, covering letter and salary expectations to Shannon Sullivan at the below address."

Re: Problems at Fleetwood
They've had so much grief on social media about this HC. Staff turnover there is off the scale. There's a revolving door by the offices for good reason...Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Thu Sep 23, 2021 1:30 pmI saw a job advert for General Manager at AFC Fylde. Sorry BC, I'm surprised you used Clement, I would have thought Sigmund would be more familiar to you reading some of your posts.

Re: Problems at Fleetwood
I wondered if that company was related to Tangerine Foods who have a history of H&S breaches. In one such case a worker was caught up in machinery and was killed. They were prosecuted and appealed the conviction but the appeal was denied on the grounds of reasonable foreseeability in 2011. They have a factory in Blackpool but it is not the same company I don’t thinkVolvoclaret wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 4:59 pmJust to re-enforce this, Haythornthwaites holding company is called Tangerine Holdings.

Definitely NOT the same company Chobulous. Tangerine Holdings are involved in animal feed, vitamins, supplements. Re: Problems at Fleetwood
The animal feeds business is right across the road from the AFC Fylde stadium. It’s a tidy ground that encompasses a hotel and sports bar in the main stand. There’s also a separate function room, sports center, gym and classroom facilities. Very impressive for non-league.

That, I don't know but what is it that attracts such obnoxious business people to football per se?

It happened, the contractor in question at the time did a lot of work for football clubs.
However since you were there when the conversation took place I wonder if I misheard him.
