Do you know the date of the Halifax meeting in November? I have a horrible feeling you will say the 25th but hope I am wrong.

I’m afraid it is the 25th, yes. Always the last Thursday of the month. Sorry about that

Having been unable to attend the September meeting, I'll make every effort to get to Halifax in November. After all, I'm the West Yorkshire Clarets rep at Burnley FC Supporters Groups so I should make every effort to get to a meeting occasionally.

I'm assuming all the Clarets I know in the Halifax area will be attending John.

Looking forward to my first meet up at Bingley as an exiled Lancastrian.

There are a few fellow Clarets in Crosshills, Steeton, Farnhill and Cononley. The landlord of the Railway Inn in ‘Cunla’ is a claret and it is on the main rail line from Skipton to Leeds and Bradford.

Maybe consider that for a meeting somewhere down the line?

We used to go camping at Riverside in Cononley and often have a drink or meal in his pub, as it was run by a Claret. Really nice bloke.

This puts you next door to The Sparrow then, one of our previous stomping grounds?

Sounds good as quite close to the stations.

No problem, it will be tricky due to it being Black Friday the day after and at work we're very busy on this day and the days before, but I will see if I can make it.

Very many thanks to all those who joined us in Bingley on Thursday evening. Yet again, it was another excellent turnout and it seemed like a very enjoyable meet-up for all. Lovely to see some new faces and of course, some of the regulars who attended their first meeting since lockdown. Great to have you back!

Our next meeting will take place in Halifax on Thursday 25th November, from 7:30pm.

If anyone living or working in Calderdale would be keen to join our mailing list for further information, please get in touch.

We had an absolutely brilliant evening last night and a fantastic turnout. In fact, it was our record attendance! It’s so good to see so many people wanting to come out for a drink after lockdown… Ironically, since we started meeting up again in late October, we have have had more West Yorkshire clarets meetings (4) than home games (3).

We had our usual curry in the city centre later on and we were joined for well over an hour by Claret Cult, Roger Eli. No bells and whistles, just a bloody good bloke wanting to join us for a drink. It was really good to give up his time for us yet again.

Our next meeting will be in Leeds city Centre, either on the last Thursday in February, or the first Thursday in March, depending on family commitments around the half term holidays. I will confirm this very shortly.

Thanks finally to defouronblondes, who gave up half of his establishment for our group to enjoy drinks last night. I can’t recommend the Boar and Fable in Bradford enough. We’ll be back!

Brilliant night thanks John, so good to see a great turnout of happy smiling faces, despite our current league predicament! Fantastic pub too with a great selection of ales.

A big thanks also to the 'mystery' curry benefactor!

Thansk for organising John and the lift back, and looking forwad to the next one.

Thanks Charlie, it was cracking. One of the highlights was getting up to head into town to our usual curry house, only to be stopped by a lovely Asian bloke who was earwigging, who insisted we went to his curry house of choice. It didn’t disappoint!!

Couldn’t agree more Tony. He showed more interest in me being a teacher and running a school football team and choir, than he allowed me to show interest in him. Very generous with his time.

Re: West Yorkshire Clarets - For those living in the Leeds and Huddersfield area (meeting information)

Post by jdrobbo » Sun Feb 06, 2022 1:31 pm

Hi everyone,

Due to the half-term break falling on our scheduled February date and couple with the fact that the last Thursday in Feb also falls just 48 hours after we play Tottenham, a decision has been made to hold our Leeds meeting on Thursday 3rd March.
We will then be meeting in Huddersfield four week later on Thursday 31st March.
Please see below for venue information...

LEEDS:

We will be returning to the TOWN HALL TAVERN, after a five or six year absence, which is a 6-7 minute walk up from the train station and is found opposite Leeds Town Hall.

Date: Thursday 3rd March
Address: 17 Westgate, Leeds LS1 2RA
Meeting time: from 7:30pm

HUDDERSFIELD

On the final day of the month, we will be making our usual visit to the Grove in Huddersfield - A very popular stop for the group, on our annual calendar.

Date: Thursday 31st March
Address: 2 Spring Grove St, Huddersfield HD1 4BP
Meeting time: from 7:30pm
