Good evening everyone,
I just wanted to put out a quick message to alert any West Yorkshire based Burnley fans to the fact that, after well over 18 months without a meet up, we are going to resume our monthly meetings, starting next Thursday 30th September.
Will be meeting in Mytholmroyd on this occasion. In October we will be off to Bingley and in November, travelling to Halifax.
If you live in the region and are not yet on the mailing list, and would like to be, then please access the email from the directory linked at the end of this message.
https://www.uptheclarets.com/supporters-clubs-directory
For those of you that don’t know, the group tends to meet on the last Thursday of each month, more often than not in a real ale pub, from 7:30pm. Meetings are not meetings as such…they’re simply a couple of drinks and a chat about all things Claret and Blue; a very casual affair.
It would be great to see some new faces as we had outside again and I really look forward to catching up with all those regular attendees.
I have no doubt that Tony will kindly publicise our meeting once the weekends game is out of the way.
Best wishes everyone and stay safe!
John

This is very kind of you, thank you ClaretBrewer. I live in Menston and run through Otley all the time. In fact, I ran up the Chevin earlier today. I’ll have to pop in

You'll need a pint after running up there.
I used to live on High Royds before the wife and kids came along and we needed somewhere bigger.

A pint or two!! Indeed, it’s a very steep ascent from the village.

Good morning! It’s absolutely not up to me to decide who is and who is not allowed to have a drink in the pub.
If said Leeds fan, is the friend of Burnley supporter who is wanting to attend the meeting, then why not. The more, the merrier.
If you or the poster you are asking for would like to contact me on our group’s email address, to provide some context, then feel free. Have a good day.

Did you get a train ok? And more importantly, did everyone turn up for their shift at the right time?

The WYC in attendance were more fortunate than they thought last night given they didn't know I'd intended attending but couldn't make it. I'll try to make the next one in Sowerby.

Our next meeting will take place in Bingley on Thursday 25th October from 7:30 pm. It would be fantastic if Burnley fans in the Keighley, Silsden, Crosshills, Bradford, Ilkley area, were able to join us for a few drinks.

Being in Halifax, I should make the effort of coming to one of these events and see how it is.
I cannot make Bingley due to work, but will definitely try and come to the Halifax meeting in November, if again work doesn't get in the way.

Claretburns, it would be lovely to meet you. Just a few drinks and BFC chat around a couple of tables: no strict agenda.

I can see that my comment above could be seen as being sarcastic, but it wasn't meant to be. If I did live in West Yorkshire, I would certainly attend all the meetings.
I seem to recall that many years ago there was an attempt to organise a similar group up here, but Cumbria doesn't lend itself to this sort of thing, with long distances between populated areas and poor public transport links.

Hi John. What sort of things do West Yorkshire Clarets do?
I have two young lads who live over there but at 17 and 15 are a bit young for sitting in pubs and talking Clarets.
Is there any other benefits like travel organised to home and away games etc?

Sadly, our membership doesn’t stretch to filling buses for away days. Hopefully in a year or do they’d like to join us. People have brought their youngsters to meetings throughout the last fifteen years.
If they’d like tickets for the supporters groups player of the year evening, as long as one member of their family is on the mailing list, then they can have access to that and join us on our table.
We also contribute to initiatives such as the player boards around the ground (ours is Jimmy Adamson) and help with the matchday Foodbank collection as a group.
John

The Three Pigeons in Halifax would be a good pub to meet in. Ten minutes walk from the station and excellent real ale.
