We can probably manage without Cornet, but Vydra would be a big miss for the Norwich game, especially with Jay Rod side-lined for a few weeks by all accounts, and like you I despair of Barnes playing up top again, he offers nothing these days, no goal threat, no pace to trouble defenders, and he rarely even wins free-kicks now, and it was noticeable how we immediately reverted to playing it long once he was introduced on Saturday.
Had Barnes started v Leicester we would not have picked up any points. Fine bringing him on with 10 or so minutes to go when you are trying not to concede , and game manage, as he will make a nuisance of himself, and win you free kicks. Unfortunately making a nuisance of yourself does not get you goals or points,

The problem is he doesn't even make a nuisance of himself these days, and he definitely doesn't win as many free kicks as he used to, so as soon as the ball goes up to him you know it's going to come straight back quickly.

As someone managed earlier in the thread, when Vokes was losing his mojo we shifted him on, but whether by choice or design SD hasn't done the same with Barnes.

Vydra has a " strong chance ", Maxwell " probably too risky " , as per SD , via Chris Boden

"Probably too risky", is actually good news. It means he's not a million miles off and likely it'll be 1 game out and that's it.
