This one has reared its head again, possibly as a result of the ESL.

I'm not sure if they would want the likes of Burnley involved in it but I think I like the idea.

It would be a nice city to visit for the fans as we're not playing European football for a while.

Unfortunately, if it were deemed a success the next step would be an overseas franchise, like a London version of the NFL.

You'd have a number of teams abroad playing in the Prem.

Are you saying the NFL has a team who is based outside the US or are you saying their is a US team who plays their home matches in London? As far as im aware their are two matches in London per season and that every NFL team is still based in the US and plays virtually all their home matches (all of them for the majority) in the US

I don't think UEFA would allow teams from abroad to join the Premier league as it would devalue their competitions.

I wouldn't mind Barcelona joining though. One away game there a season would be decent.
I wouldn't like 6 or 7 coming in though.

So a hypothetically speaking if the Premier League do sanction some games to be played abroad and it is a success it might lead to a hypotheitcal scenario that hasn't happened, has no plans to happen and has a list of issues that would make very difficult to happen.

I see where you're coming from now....good point!

First thing to consider is can they find 10 teams willing to give up a home game to play it. If they can't, then no deal.

Was always going to come up again with the amount of foreign owners there are.

In a Premier League where the majority of the chairmen are in it to make money (or to service debt) then the likely answer is yes.

The fact that a trip abroad to see their team play a β€˜home’ game is out of reach financially for many supporters won’t concern them, especially as the point is to attract foreign fans.

I like the idea tbh, gives fans the chance to travel to watch their side and also will only boost finances/reach/viewing figures etc.

As soon as foreign owners own the clubs bizarre things would be proposed and happen, it's the why would they buy clubs such as us if it wasn't to use us as a money making tool.
FC Burnley of Lancashire someday, fan owned ,?

It looks to be an idea that has been made by people who think football is exempt from having to consider climate change.

See also arsene wengers biannual World cup, rich people going to space in private rockets, champions league finals in Baku, uncontrolled population growth etc etc.
