Disgraceful that the Romanian thug managed to get on a plane and away.

One thing I've noticed over the years on these programmes, a lot of Eastern European girls get trafficked here to work in the sex industry......something that never really gets mentioned but it's clearly done with ease due to FoM....just sayin.

There was definitely more to that story, it was too planned and nothing was actually stolen.

Unless there's a follow up episode it couldn't really be called 24 Hours In Police Custody as there was no questioning etc.
But to add to the above post, the real question is why?
Nasty attack on apparently innocent people.

I can't agree that it doesn't get mentioned in the media. There has been plenty of exposure on this over the years.

It gets mentioned that they're here, no one points out that FoM has made trafficking easier.

When you consider the sentences handed out for some crimes that’s as bad as I’ve seen

The last case shown over 2 episodes wasn't an easy watch due to the horrendous nature of the crimes and the obvious trauma of the victims interviewed but at least the scumbag was finally bought to justice.

The arrogant prick just sat through the police interviews with a smirk on his face answering 'no comment' to every question thinking that would somehow help him get away with his crimes as he had done for so long.

Would love to have seen the expression on his face when he was found guilty on all charges and got a life sentence with a minimum of 22 years.

It was a hard watch, that's for sure. He was just blank when the accusations were read out. Horrible creature.

A big well done to the police officer who got the cases re-opened against him. It can't be easy going to your senior officers when it's clear the previous officers made many mistakes.

It’s nothing to do with FOM, they aren’t filling out visa applications to work in a brothel. They come here under the same rules that we go on holiday to Spain and then they “disappear” from the system.

When we had FoM that made it easier for them to come here with zero checks

A perfect example of our broken judicial system. Useless police, and CPS that is not fit for purpose. The scrotes win again and no doubt will continue to make misery. Fyi my wife is ex police, my Brother In Law 30 years in force, my uncle ex force and sister in law ex force so no reason for me to be anti police on a personal level.

Feel really sorry for the guy. I think he was guilty of overstepping the mark and was lucky not to have killed two people as his sentence would presumably have been a lot worse. To see the scumbags get away practically scot-free show a massive flaw in the system though.

Scumbags like the two featured tonight are laughing to everyone else.

Hardworking famously man sent to prison for taking the law into his own hands, career scumbags given a slap on the wrists and sent away to reoffend.

They were actually spared prison because they injuries they sustained whilst committing the crime would have made liege difficult for them.

An absolute shambles.

Incredible is the only word tbh.

Repeat offenders with criminality as an actual occupation cause absolute devastation to a hard working family that has probably never considered committing any kind of crime. If I was the guy that was sent down I would do my level best to leave this country for good when I was released.

Absolute joke CPS on this one.

I was livid and extremely angry after watching this episode. I almost wish that I
hadn't seen it to be honest. I think it's a common conception that the law and justice
system in this country is not fit for purpose and this programme goes a long long way
to enforce that opinion.

It took me quite a while last night to calm down and accept what I had just witnessed.

OK, the poor guy did take the law into his own hands to some extent but, let's be honest,
most on here would take some action if the family and property were under threat.

Rewarding scumbags like those two should not be an option imo.

My feelings exactly, however, we all know that it isn't going to improve and there will continue to be many more cases similar to this.
It is a very sad society in which we live.

The CPS and the whole judicial system are a massive issue in this country and since Covid it’s got even worse.
We have all seen the statistics about how few rape and sexual abuse cases ever see the light of day in court. The amount of police work and resources it takes to get to the stage where the CPS throw out the cases is staggering.

But yet in this country especially in recent times it’s the police who get it in the neck from the public. This is the same police who are doing their best with the victims and their families to try and get justice. And it’s the same police men and women who are having to wear many different hats in these cases because all the support services that used to exist have disappeared under the austerity measures introduced by the Tory Party.

To put themselves up as the party of law and order is laughable. I cannot think of one thing in the last 12 years that the Conservative Party has done to improve law and order in this country.

Yep there has been some good episodes.
Though like most people you do watch it in sheer disbelief as to what our country and criminal system has become.

Absolute scrotes of human beings with criminal records as long as your arm being represented by solicitors who know they are guilty but tell them to respond with no comment. The police know they are guilty too and usually have quite a lot of evidence too. Only for so many cases to get thrown out on ridiculous technicalities and these people again go out and repeat the offences and repeat.

One of my kids is a police detective and they love their job but if you do not have a thick skin and can deal with the frustration of the system and CPS then you could never survive in that job for any length of time. The ones who do survive do it because even if they are only getting 10% (or less) convictions it’s better to do achieve this for the victims than nothing at all.

I watched it last night and was appalled at the outcome.

Absolutely perplexing reference to court backlogs and those outraged not acknowledging them and even more so about the totally unrelated reference to GP appointments.

Both of us think this sort of thing should not happen and its horrible

You'll need to help me understand why backlogs in the courts had any bearing on this outcome and people's view of the outcome. And also the relevance to people getting GP appointments or of a foreign girl in tesco. Are these the important wider and relevant issues to which you refer and, if so, how?
TBF I did make a general point about the issues in our judicial and criminal systems and that is what LC replied to. I did not watch last nights episode but have seen a few previous ones and they very much marry up with what I am being told happens on a daily basis with one of my children who is a police detective. I’m not going to comment on the other points LC raised as it will just lead to the thread being locked for all the wrong reasons but specifically on the backlog of court cases this is a very real and major issue in this country and from everything I am being told is having a direct knock on impact on the leniency that is taking place and also the way CPS are throwing out many cases despite the weight of evidence the police are providing.

I wasn’t saying all of this impacted on last nights case as I did not see this episode. But what I am saying is more than just a opinion. It’s what is happening in every single police force in the country.

This thread is about a tv show which covers a bloke going to prison and having his entire life affected by a couple of scrotes turning up uninvited to his private home armed with weapons that could kill his wife or child. A man that probably had no previous going to prison when serious criminals get off free to continue terrorising innocent people in our society. Why on earth it descends into wider issues that have no relevance to a tv show giving us information about how unjust our Country is at times, I have no idea.
