Anyone else just received an e-mail from the club offering to buy their shares?

£1699.00

You get a cheque for half and the other half a credit note to spend with Club.

£1699 per share, £849.50 in cash and £849.50 to be spent with the club or in the club shop.

I have four shares. If I decide to sell them all I'll have to buy a hell of a lot of replica shirts :)

And me! I'm an over 65 so it'll keep me going for years.

I will have to consider this. I've always been proud of my shares because they made me feel part of a locally owned club. We are no longer locally owned.

We have about three weeks to decide. My initial thought is to sell.

Mine will be to sell to, absolutely worthless now.

I agree lakedistrictclaret with being part of my local club meaning something special to me.
I also have used as “something unique about you” in icebreakers when at work. Always impressed when I said I’m a shareholder in a premier league football club!!!!
Don’t work now so can’t use that and everyone who knows me knows I’m a claret

A decent offer is that.

I can't see any reason to keep them. No benefits or chance to have your say.

Pay for your ST with the money if you want it to go back to the club.

Just to add, if you decide to sell, you have to sell them all. For example, I couldn't sell three but keep one.

I’m really pleased for smaller shareholders that they get a route to realising the value of their shares.

Out of interest, how many are out there and what valuation does the £1699 set?

And if you hold >1 does the 50:50 rule still apply? Say you had 5, I can’t imagine anyone wanting £4K in club credit!!

CT will have to buy a super box with the half money that needs to be spent at the club. He's too many for a BFC key ring and candle holder.

Aside from the obvious good news for fans, it’s very interesting that ALK are wanting to hoover up more shares.

My thoughts too NewClaret. That's a pretty tall order spending even £2000 in the shop unless you kit out the whole family with new clothes.
Unless there's an open ended expiry date on them.

What a joke....if you have 3 shares you get just short of 2,500 to spend in the club shop, are they serious

They will probably give you gift vouchers that you have to spend within 2 years

It's a very valid question but it made me chuckle that this kind of offer will have every cynical fibre in shareholders bodies lighting up like Blackpool illuminations.

Suppose if you have a family to buy ST’s for, it might cover a couple of seasons. Given many will be of an older generation though, that’s a lot of money to hold as a credit and could take you years to recover.

I’d be surprised if they don’t set out the rules clearly re: expiry, bereavement rights, etc.

Not quite. Only have 3 in my own name now.

But even if I still had the 100 I once had they are no longer worth the paper they are written on.

Delighted for you lakedictrictclaret, just don't go spending the money on anything Lancashire County Cricket club related if you don't mind !

Good offer that, interested in the motive though.

If, as I think is the case, the shares are in Burnley FC Holdings, with 122,000 shares in issue, this offer would value the club at around £208m.

I bought just the one in the first place to get me into the AGM’s. Seeing as the club stopped having the meetings, for me it’s pointless owning a share. So it’s definitely sell from me. Pay towards my hols at Xmas and two years worth of season tickets 👍🏻

so all of you who objected to the club's cash holding to buy the shares of the previous board - are you going to object to selling your shares in a way that eats the clubs revenues (albeit at cost that is less than the benefit you are trading for)

do we know where the cash is coming from for the other portion of payment? - is that additional loans or more of the club's cash holding

there appears to be much that needs to be made clear - it sounds like ALK are trying to progress to a complete takeover - it can be forced once a certain threshold is reached whether people want to sell or not.

I seem to remember that a number of posters have long been keen on the idea of the club being in part supporter ownership - this seems to be going into a different direction and appears timed to beat the publication of the supporter led government review and anything that the likely introduction of a football regulator may want to introduce.

at the end of the day this is aimed at making ALK a greater return on the club's investment - (I don't say ALK's investment as there is still no evidence that they have ever put any money into the club where as we know the club carries the risk and liability of the debt and has (and possibly continues too?) effectively paid towards the transfer of ownership)

If something appears too good to be true it usually is.

The other way of looking at it is that the person making the very generous offer must have a lot to gain from it.

What I would be interested in here is what additional powers ALK would have from a complete takeover compared to now. Then supporter shareholders have to decide if the risk arising from those powers makes it foolhardy to sell from their perspective as a supporter (obviously an individual may need the money, a personal choice, but they may have to be prepared for the consequences in terms of what the club looks like in years to come).

This offer won’t be going away quickly, so it seems to me that small shareholders meed to take time to get themselves into a group to work out some numbers and strategy, e.g. how many meed to sell to allow a full buyout. That group may then decide a sale is the right thing - but kneejerk actions have a chance of being regretted later.

ALK may of course do fantastic things, I hope they do, but that is putting an awful lot on trust. Shareholders currently have more power than they realise - hence this offer probably.

If they own the club outright, perhaps it will be like MU. All the debt placed on the club.

Relieving them of their borrowing responsibility.

That would not be good for BFC.
