Can see the Newcastle owners going for Eddie Howe to replace Bruce and with that kind of backing I think Howe could win the league within 3 years for them

What I find amusing is the Geordies saying they have THEIR club back.....err no actually a foreign government own it and it is part of an investment to provide funds for said foreign government for when oil revenues dry up, the premier league will be a franchise soon.

The Saudi government has bought Newcastle to provide them with an income when their oil dries up?

Football club ownership is the PR arm of a wider global investment strategy. If I'm the crown prince of a country over-dependent on a finite natural resource in order to keep my economy going, and I want to stop people whom I rule with a iron fist from storming the palace and butchering me in the public square when that oil dries up or is no longer in demand and the country's economy is screwed, I'm looking for ways to spruce up my image, show my people that their place in the world economy is dependent on my vision, and that my leadership alone will bring them prosperity. I'm going to buy influence abroad (and a few mansions in safe countries, like the UK, maybe rent them out, you know, nice little personal earners if the worst happens) and try to show would-be trading partners that the 9am public beheadings aren't actually that big a deal, because LOOK, LOOK AT THIS OVER HERE, HELLOOOOO, LOOK, LOOK OVER HERE, NEWCASTLE UTD WHICH WE OWN HAS JUST WON THE PREMIER LEAGUE!!!Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 9:06 pmWhat?

Re: Newcastle takeover
I can see this hastening the arrival of the Super League. Newcastle, City and Chelsea will tie up 3 of the 4 Champions League spots. Liverpool and Man Utd (if they get a manager) will compete for the 4th. Arsenal and Spurs have just become largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. Teams like Everyon and Villa can spend hundreds of millions and get nowhere near.
If Newcastle follow the City model and get it right (watch out for the biggest stadium sponsorship deal in history), nobody can compete.

It's part of an overall investment portfolio, when the Premier League is fully foreign owned and relegation is banned etc the profits television money generate will stop going to players and start to pay back the investments. Re: Newcastle takeover
Just a few years ago Saudi Arabia signed a deal with WWE, the American wrestling company, worth about half a billion (with a B) over 10 years to put on one or two shows a year. Believe me, more people in the world care for football than pro wrestling, and that's a lot of money to throw at something more that 99.99% of people supposedly don't give a f"ck about. It's PR. They apparently had an American company running what amounted to blatant propaganda vignettes in between wrestling matches, broadcast to a audience in America way smaller than what premier league games draw in the UK alone. Now, we aren't going to start seeing literal Saudi propaganda in between paddypower and Renault adverts on Sky, but the association with such a global brand is part of Saudi Arabia's soft power strategy (as it is for City's and PSG's owners).Winstonswhite wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 10:06 pmMate, I’m not being funny but it’s a football club. 99.99% of people don’t give a f”ck

Spijed will find somebody whether that appears to be true it’ll be denied anyway, I’m struggling to find somebody apart from maybe palace or Southampton, Brentford are looking good but could come unstuck at some point I think Norwich & Watford will be toast in the final reckoning I think the third spot will be tight & up for grabs.

The days of being able to compete are slowly coming to an end. Let's relish the chance to be in the top league while we can. It won't be long before it's no longer possible to perform miracles year to year because practically every club we're up against will have another rich owner.

Newcastle fans & all other football fans want to ask Malaga fans how well it went when they took over their club? Complete disaster where they forgot yes forgot they owned them that was the excuse when they turned of financial aid after breaking all investment rules in European football.

Newcastle are going knowhere this talk of challenges to become champions is all nonsense. City and Chelsea are miles ahead in the earning stakes and if United sack OGS they might get a top6 slot
Newcastle fans are deluded if they think a top 6 finish is theirs this season
It's a huge job to shift the dross Bruce has lumbered the club with on big wages and long contracts.
Saying that, Matt Richie and Dwight Gayle might be part of the clear out so worth a punt in January

I’m increasingly ambivalent.
Apart from us, I don’t take much wider interest anymore in the PL. I don’t watch Sky Sports News, I don’t watch MOTD, and generally come 5pm on a Saturday I have no idea what the results are, bar us.
Gone are the days I’d be glued to Soccer Saturday.

They aren't saying this season though, the majority expect it to happen over the next few years and tbh with the right manager that could happen, but they're going to overpay in wages and fees for a lot of players to make it happen.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Fri Oct 08, 2021 8:34 amNewcastle are going knowhere this talk of challenges to become champions is all nonsense. Re: Newcastle takeover
It will be interesting to see what happens these next three months.
Bruce will be potted presumably, giving a new manager time to assess the squad and give the owners a January shopping list. Will a new manager do any better than Bruce with the current squad? How motivated will some of the players be knowing they're going to be bombed out, if not in January, then the summer.
If they are still in trouble in January, will the players they throw their cash out be up for a relegation scrap and will the manager be able to mould them into a team?
