My team:

Pope
Roberts-Collins-Tarkowski-Pieters
McNeil-Brownhill-Westwood-Cornet
Vydra-Wood

Jay to come in for Vydra is Vydra is injured. Otherwise that would be my first choice lineup against City apart from Mee.

Selecting fullbacks who can score or assist is crucial hence I would blood Roberts now. I know Sean won’t.

Pope
Lowton
Collins (assuming no Mee)
Tarkowski
Taylor
Roberts
Cork
Westwood
Brownhill
Pieters
Vydra (if not available Barnes then Rodriguez after a bit.

Bardsley first change for the rest, if we are hanging on in there!

Assuming Ben Mee and Taylor are out:

Pope,
Lowton, Tarkowski, Collins, Pieters,
Brownhill,Cork, Westwood, Cornet,
McNeil,
Rodriquez.

Try to keep hold of the ball, please!

I'd go 4-5-1 which I think pretty much picks itself.

I think Pieters will be in for Taylor and possibly Cork slotting into midfield.

Barnes is being used as the player, advertising todays game on Twitter by the club.

Maybe best to use him as he should be fresh, with no travelling for Internationals. Also scores against big clubs.

The manager doesn’t like starting players that have been on midweek international duty, so I expect Wood, Roberts, Cornet, Vydra and Gudmundsson to be on the bench.

So I think Jay and Lennon (yes Lennon) will deputise and Cork will be added to make a 5 man midfield. Pieters and Collins will fill in for the two missing defenders.

This line up would hopefully contain City in the first half and some more attacking substitutions to be added on the hour.

1-0 Barnes, at 400/1 it's worth a pound!

Football Focus should be interesting. It will no doubt be all about City, but I bet they will take great delight in mentioning our last four visits there, and the results.

Cornet off Wood is what i've been asking for, need some pace on the counter if you're going to get a result.

The only people that I’ve seen getting criticised are the ones that think Connor Roberts should be playing every position but his actual position

No, there was a thread when we signed Cornet asking why not try him up front and the poster got a fair bit of flack for it.

A good looking squad and as long as Dyche avoids playing 4-5-1 who knows.

6-3-1 the odd whack up field and possibly a scrap after a set play.

Defence v Attack today but with them having no actual striker, we should keep it under 4 that's for sure.

I don't blame Dyche one bit for picking that team or that formation, if it is indeed 4-5-1.

Sometimes when I see a squad list I think "yeah we'll win this"

I've actually got that feeling now... though I'll have had more success with my premonitions in other fixtures!
