T20 World Cup

Post by tiger76 » Thu Oct 14, 2021 9:54 pm

This starts on Sunday with the first round.

Group A: Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands, Sri Lanka
Group B: Bangladesh, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland
Top two teams in each group qualify for Super 12 stage

Oman v Papua New Guinea

Bangladesh v Scotland

Kick things off.

You'd imagine Bangladesh & Sri Lanka will win their respective groups, so if Ireland & Scotland want to face the really big boys they'll be hoping to finish 2nd behind the more established nations.

Full schedule herehttps://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/58284745

England open their tournament with a tricky match against the West Indies on 23rd October

When you think of some of the wonderful players Sri Lanka had in the last thirty years, it’s amazing they have to qualify!

Easy 10 wicket victory for Oman.

Huge win for Scotland, who've just beaten Bangladesh by 6 runs in a thriller.

Wins for Ireland and Sri Lanka today, an amazing spell by Curtis Campher, 4 wickets in 4 balls, to break the back of the Netherlands innings.

With two of them over-turned not outs. The first was a difficult glove edge but the second was plumb lbw and was a shocking call.

Scotland beat Papua New Guinea today by 17 runs and are on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup.

They need Oman to beat Bangladesh, playing now, or need to beat Oman in their final game to qualify.

In the Oman v Bangladesh game, Bangladesh have set Oman 154 to win and Oman are currently 47/2 at 5.4 overs.

Bangladesh beat Oman by 26 runs, so Scotland need to beat Oman in the final game to guarantee qualification.

2 New Zealanders.
4 Saffers,
1 Tongan.
1 Brit.

You're right there, Claretincraven.

My son's a mate of Max O'Dowd. They played together in club cricket in Notts and Max is very much a Kiwi from Auckland. Nice lad though......although I barely recognised him with his surfer-dude hair...and he's put a bit of timber on since I last saw him. Decent knock today, though.

Namibia beat Netherlands by 6 wickets.

Ireland currently chasing Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka set Ireland 172 to win and Ireland currently 18/2 from 2.4 overs, needing 154 runs from 104 balls.

If Ireland lose today then it will all come down to Ireland v Namibia on Friday with the winner qualifying for the next stage.

Easy win for Sri Lanka, who confirm their place in the Super 12s.

Ireland & Scotland both need to win their final matches to guarantee themselves a place in the next stage.

Scotland have won more games at this World Cup than their football team has won in the last 38 years of World Cups :D

Well done to Scotland the 1st time they've made it to the 2nd stage of a WC. And they've done it in impressive fashion to boot.

It’s green with a volume picture on it.

Search ‘cricket’ you’ll find a stream

If you can on your phone, it’s perfect

Takes less than a minute
