Silly money isn't £3m in 1 year for wages to improve us and try to bank a further £130m+.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 2:30 pmI think Chelsea would like to see Barkley playing just to get other clubs interested in him being taken off their books permanently
As for silly money - what do we, or other clubs for that matter, consider to be a reasonable amount to give us a better chance of more Premier League football (and financial rewards)

Re: Ross Barkley
To be fair KRBFC I believe the loan deals cost considerably more than that.
I’m pretty sure Gallagher at Palace was a 3m Loan fee with Palace paying all of his wages. Plus his agent receives a fee for making the deal happen. All in that deal probably cost around 7-8m to loan a player for a season.
Re: Ross Barkley
Players are happy at Burnley so, if he fits in and enjoys it, he might want to stay, with a drop in wages. Is he someone that wants to play or just happy to pick up the wage and sit on his backside? He must have enough money now to not worry, and even on our wages the players are millionaires.

Only way that happens is if they do what we have done with Cornet.

Re: Ross Barkley
You still need to make the deal more appetising than other clubs offering, i think in palaces case he chose them over Leeds for a reason maybe reasons he wasn’t adverse to moving to the midlands last season with West Brom so maybe location not the reason & didn’t want to go to Leeds, we have to present a package more acceptable to Chelsea & RB than other clubs.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:26 pmTo be fair KRBFC I believe the loan deals cost considerably more than that.

Re: Ross Barkley
In Barkley’s case I don’t think that necessarily applies, a lot of Northerners would much rather visit London than live around it once they get past their twenties and start to think ahead.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:41 pmYou still need to make the deal more appetising than other clubs offering, i think in palaces case he chose them over Leeds for a reason maybe reasons he wasn’t adverse to moving to the midlands last season with West Brom so maybe location not the reason & didn’t want to go to Leeds, we have to present a package more acceptable to Chelsea & RB than other clubs.

Re: Ross Barkley
You are possibly right a variety of different reasons will exist why somebody chooses somewhere, all I’m saying is we won’t be the only club after Barkley & we will need to compete to get him.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:53 pmIn Barkley’s case I don’t think that necessarily applies, a lot of Northerners would much rather visit London than live around it once they get past their twenties and start to think ahead.

Re: Ross Barkley
Think that depends to be honest after Villa, they didn’t bust a gut to get him back. I think lower end but I think most top clubs will think they have positions covered and introducing Barkley may unsettle rather than help them. I don’t think their would be much higher demand than there was in the Summer.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 7:57 pmYou are possibly right a variety of different reasons will exist why somebody chooses somewhere, all I’m saying is we won’t be the only club after Barkley & we will need to compete to get him.

Re: Ross Barkley
By all accounts he started well for Villa but quickly faded. Still think he’d be a good signing for us with Dyche being able to get the best out of him. Presuming if we are still interested there has been ongoing dialogue between both parties.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 8:40 pmThink that depends to be honest after Villa, they didn’t bust a gut to get him back. Re: Ross Barkley
I heard that from my Villa supporting mates. Not sure it’ll matter for us come January we might welcome anyone who would give us the most temporary of lifts.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 8:59 pmBy all accounts he started well for Villa but quickly faded. I’d prefer a loan with an option to buy though, and, whoever we have in mind for January, I hope apace and his team are looking to get them in at the beginning of the window.

Re: Ross Barkley
And we think our midfield is over run now. Imagine lining up in a premier league game with that midfield. Might as just give the opposition a two goal head start.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Oct 17, 2021 6:12 pmIf we had Barkley I could see our midfield/attack lining up as follows
Roberts McNeil Brownhill Barkley

Re: Ross Barkley
A player of Barkley's ability is exactly what we need but I'm not certain Barkley is the answer.
Re: Ross Barkley
Off topic slightly but my Liverpool supporting relative told me a lot of their fans don’t like Henderson, he’s often getting stick from a section of the crowd, now he’d be a player I would love, finances etc I realise won’t allow it to happen but he’s exactly what we need imo.

Linked with Leeds and Newcastle today, so that’s that then.

Did think summer was the time if we were going to do this one.Cirrus_Minor wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 9:02 amLinked with Leeds and Newcastle today, so that’s that then.
I imagine we thought we were signing Christie initially, then when that fell through it was too late to agree a deal.
Certainly Newcastle & Leeds will pay a much bigger proportion of his salary so unlikely if either of them are sniffing around.
