FAO Redbeard

Post by Steve1956 » Wed Oct 20, 2021 10:39 am

Hello buddy, havnt seen you around for quite a while,we desperately need a change of luck for Saturday....is it time to change that with a tinned food count,if you score it I'll do one for the Southampton game...who knows it might just help us turn our season around and shunt us up the table.
Can't believe we have let this fun competition lapse.
Hope you see this and we give it a go. ;)

Redbeards been taken hostage by Somalian Pirates, they want to know the number of beans and weight of juice in 50 cans of beans to release him.

It could be a while before he's back posting. :D

Our troubles definitely started with the demise of Madge. All the joy was taken out of the game.
What a group of men can have against one beautiful young woman I’ll never understand.

Yet another cake to bake.
Yet another file to disguise as a replica rusty anchor.
First though, we've to find which flea bitten dungeon Red's been flung into this time.

Becalmed in the doldrums of the Sargasso Sea, a fitting end, its how he would have wanted to go.

Back for the Spurs game though I'll bet.

I would love it if this tradition returned , the whole character of this board has changed, sadly for the worst.

Sorry, Steve, but I gave up on the TFC when once again we couldn't get a Count arranged for the opening day of the season.

You carry on if you like, and good luck to you, but that was it for me.

It would be pointless btw to try and persuade me otherwise.

Meanwhile I have donated all my tins to the Tesco foodbank.

That's a great shame Red,please have a few days to think about it,we can't have a tinned food count without you being involved, your club needs you buddy.

Steve - please re-read the third line in my post above.

You don't need any kind of help or permission from me: just go ahead if you like.

That's my last word on the matter.

nevertheless I would just like to express mine and countless other Clarets gratitude to Redbeard for introducing the Food Count to the messageboard and the countless hours of entertainment it has produced.
I officiated only once and feel a little guilty I should have contributed more over the years.

Good luck Steve + hopefully you will be able to get this going again soon.

Thanks to all those who have ever participated and paticularly to our Admiral!

Yes, another who massively enjoyed the frippery and utmost importance that the tinned food count brought.

Thanks to everybody who contributed but special thanks to 1959_60 and the Admiral Redbeard.

To everything there is a season.

My much-revered Counting mentor 1959_60 opted to stay behind on the old Clarets Mad board when most of us moved over to this one.

Almost everything I learned about Counting, I learned from him, and no doubt had he joined us here then the club would have qualified for Europe in every season since.

His own decision not to Count here was a more sadly momentous event than my own departure now could ever be.

I think he stayed in the asylum with the other madders and declined to move sites
But the reason Redders has finished is as he says not enough of us contributed tins
for the count
I gave up after I ran out of time counting the grains of rice in a milk pudding and
as for the joooooooooose well it is still dripping into the measuring jug which
is now covered in black mould.
