Read it again!

I was never suggesting the match opponents.

I was suggesting Prem preferences for their 'desired constituents'.
Garbage.
The PL don't care tbh, they probably enjoy it when the surprise results are thrown up, it adds to the entertainment and resale value of the TV rights.

The current change around of West Ham being near the top and above Arsenal and Spurs is great for the PL's entertainment value.

It's the media and fans who make stupid claims that the likes of Sheff Wed/Forest/Derby/Sunderland etc deserve to be in the PL ahead of Burnley for example.
It used to be Leeds who were apparently more deserving of being in the PL than any other club, if they drop out the same claims will be made again I have no doubt

The season we finished 7th was great because we were picking up wins over the big boys and disrupting the "natural order" but football fans were loving it when it was their rivals losing points to us.

Also a hard fought relegation battle is just as important for the PL's viewing figures as a hard fought title challenge and battle for European spots.

That's why PL TV rights keep selling for more and more money each time, because the league is so varied in regards to quality of teams and surprise results can still happen.

Ian's conspiracy theory again :o
I was being kind to him calling it that.

What were the powers that be doing allowing Leicester to win the league? Or allowing supposedly big clubs like Leeds, Newcastle and Villa to be relegated over the years, if there's this insistence on having certain clubs always playing in the top flight?

If you were running the Prem and charged to increase the global brand, the first step would be to ensure the product has the right constituents.

If you employed the referees, goal line technology and VAR, then they become tools at your disposal.

Not so so why such insults are being thrown. Just an opinion - to which many subscribe.

Total crap is total crap. That is a reason for some big teams to be relegated.

But they're getting help from the officials and the PL according to you, so how are they getting relegated?

Some are beyond help.

Someone mentioned Leicester.
That was a good news story. Look at the dodgy pens they were awarded that season. Anything and everything went their way.

Have we never won a dodgy penalty?

It happens. Get over it.

The top clubs are likely to win more penalties due to them being in the opponents penalty area more than struggling teams.

Strangely, i used to think it was rigged and being run almost as a soap opera....
but we'd have been chucked out years ago if it was.

If you wish to believe that - but the game was Aston Villa v Sheffield United, not Bournemouth.
How that goal wasn't allowed will go down as one of life's unsolved mysteries...they didn't need VAR you could see with the naked eye it was a goal,Bournemouth were robbed of their Premier league status....so Ian kinda has a point, but I'm not sure his argument that we are not wanted in the top division holds any water

We’d still around a quarter of the season to play at the time though

This is the best goal that never was, Roy Carroll when he was Utd's GK

Yea but if everything panned out the way it did Villa were saved by the dodgiest decision I've ever seen, surprised Bournemouth didn't make a bigger deal of it to be honest.

You can't help but admire this board ... 🙂

Its only on "Up the Clarets" can one comment about a match around 2 or 3 years ago by two other teams cause so much in the way of arguments ...

I thought this thread was about PL managers getting canned not Villa, Bunmouth and Sheff Utd 🤭🤭🤭

Bolton scored against Everton in the first ever game at the Reebok. It hit the back stanchion, came out and it wasn’t given. The game ended 0-0 but should have been 1-0.

Bolton went down that season. Had the goal stood then they would have stayed up and Everton gone down. But the game was in August.

Does it really matter when it happens the points are still lost, and eventually have an impact on league positions

I think it does matter. Teams will play differently at the end of the season depending on the situation.

Rumours circulating that Utd have made contact with Conte and the Utd MD is to hold a meeting with Glazers to discuss OGS's future.

Judging by the atmosphere at Spurs Nuno should be fearing for his future.

I feel sorry for Nuno. I do wonder if Kane’s own situation hasn’t helped, his body language just isn’t right to me, I’m not saying he isn’t trying but he does at time look un interested and sometimes that can have an affect on a team and of course team spirit. I don’t think Nuno suddenly becomes a bad manager.
