Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope - 6 - cannot fault him for either goal
Lowton -6 -great ball in for the goal but after that gave McCarthy catching practice
Collins -8
Tarkowski - 5 needless goal to give away
Taylor -6 did well given how isolated he was
McNeil -7
Brownhill -6
Westwood -5
Cork - 4 - no legs
Cornet -7 two good goals and definitely gives us spark. Has to do more defensively
Wood -4 - he’s getting in in history at the minute because he’s not getting in based on form.
Point gained and a lot of positives to take from that. We do carry some threat going forward but we also look fragile at the back.
I would swap Brownhill for Cork and bring J-Rod in on the right or JBG. The wins will come.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
I'm not sure the ball in for the first goal is actually that great or much better than most of the others he wastes. It's the run of Cornet (and the sleepiness of his statuesque marker) which makes it a great ball. (IMO)ChristheViking wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 8:19 pmPope - 6 - cannot fault him for either goal

Dyche needs to rapidly change our system or we are doomed. The Premier league has moved on and got faster.
Wood is a good player but it simply doesn't work anymore. Cornet is a step in the right direction but needs to play in a more fluent system with a faster partner.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Other than 2 routine catches what else did he do to deserve a higher mark. He was certainly below average and has been all season. Not sure he has fully recovered from the shoulder injury or is lacking confidence.
Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Your first sentence pretty much describes an average rather than poor performance. He certainly wasn't poor.

Hard work but looked very average today.
Two good strikes from Cornet saved the day.
Pope does not look himself at all. I can see him being 'rested, particularly if Hennessy has a decent match on Wednesday.
Need a win, badly.

I would hope he has recovered from the shoulder injury - it was three years and three months ago.
