Brentford now becomes a must win game now, inyou opinion. This was a hard fought, and perhaps lucky point, but i'll take it after a patchy performance.

Collins 7
Tarks 7. Think that was his first mistake in years so no deduction from me
Taylor 6
Brownhill 7
Cork 5 looks knackered
Westwood 6
McNeil 9 best all round player on the pitch
Cornet 7 brilliant goals but can’t track back
Wood 4. His is knackered and needs a rest
JRod 4 did nothing as usual
JGB 6
Mistake cost us 2 points or brilliant goal saved us 1 point. Take your pick

We, by a country mile, have the worst centre midfield in the league. I don’t think any of those 3 would get on the bench in any, except Norwich who are terrible, other Premier League team. How Wood stayed on for 90 minutes staggers me when it smacks you in the face that Saints were struggling with movement as Cornet showed. All I can say about todays performance is thank goodness for Cornet. Just let him do his thing

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 6 - not a great deal to do. Came well for a couple of crosses.
Lowton 6 - thought he held his position well despite being overloaded at times.
Collins 7 - really solid again. One slightly rushed clearance apart.
Tarkowski 5 - not the only one at fault for the secomd goal but the main culprit.
Taylor 5 - didn't get much protection first half but looked incredibly flat footed. Poor delivery when well positioned also.
McNeil 7- worked really hard and helped solidify the left side in the second half. A good game.
Cork 4 - looked incredibly one paced, not sure if he was injured but that's was definitely one to forget. Probably the worst I've ever seen him.
Westwood 4 - culpable for both goals with incredibly sloppy passing. He and Cork were finding it very difficult indeed in there.
Brownhill 7 - good energy, pressed well and helped us gain a bit more control when he went central.in the second half.
Cornet 8 * - clearly a lot of work to be done in understanding our shape at times but clearly brings a lot to the table for us in am attacking sense.
Wood 5 - good nuisance value at times but another who looked incredibly cumbersome on occasion...

Both central midfielders not at this level, something needs to change here. Wood is woeful, why JRod before Vydra? He has not offered anything all this and last season, very poor.
Worryingly the other option up front is Barnes……….
As a previous poster said Cornet will be wondering why he signed for us.
Sean’s going to have to start thinking outside the box to change things because as it is we are only going in one direction. Next week is a must win.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 7 some good claims but couldn’t do anything with the goals.
Lowton 7 Great ball and decent performance
Tarks 5 what the **** was that pass.
Collins 7 good again.
Taylor 6 quiet but stayed fit and some good blocks.
McNeil 8 great first half and a good second half covering the excellent saints right back well.
Brownhill 6 got around well but we were overrun as usual.
Westwood 5 poor today. Lost the ball needlessly countless times and wasn’t his usual self.
Cork 4 what a **** he looked today. I think he’s a good player but today he made a 3 man midfield less dominant than a 2 man midfield would have been.
Cornet 10 I don’t care about defensive shite first half, his runs, passes and quality are there to see. We’ve got to find a way to slot him into the team so we’re ok defensively. Two great goals. A shame literally nobody else looks like scoring...
Wood 5 very quiet and cumbersome. Didn’t win anything against some inexperienced opponents and didn’t get a sniff.
Jay rod 4 replaced cork and was equally ****. Miles off it.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
How can anyone score Pope a 4? Did they seriously expect him to save their second?
It was drilled as hard as **** into the bottom corner.

Pope 6 nowt to do
Lowton 6 one lovely ball but some shocker bad crosses too
Collind 7 cool customer , should replace Mee
Tarkowski 5 poor today must understand he’s not Nesta /Cannavaro etc
Taylor 6 ,couple of good blocks , didn’t get forward with Dwight on the right
Mcneil 6 one of his better games couple of decentish balls in ,but let’s be honest he ain’t all that ,
Brownhill 6 lots of energy but no end product and an awful cross
Westwood 5 just about ok but sloppy and past it but Soton totally bypasses our mid
Cork 4 Legs have gone becoming a liability
Cornet 8 MOM 2 class goals our only real danger
Wood 4 pretty poor again ,bereft of ideas
Rodriguez 5
JBG 5
Neither sub got hardly any passes , JR one flash shot and JBG one run when shouid have passed to JR

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Not rating as my stream wasn’t good enough but some observations.
Wood needs a month off, the Olympics and travelling for international breaks has done for him.
Tarks needs to get back to what he is good at defending. I don’t see him as a captain either.
Cork looks as though his legs have gone. In his favour he is short of match minutes.
If we are going 4-5-1 the 1 should be Vydra. He hounds defenders and his hold up play is good, just wish he could score more.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Pope 6 - Maybe got lost in the crowd on the first goal?
Lowton 6 - One great cross and about five poor ones. Defended well.
Collins 8 MoM - This lad is a good ‘un
Tarkowski 6 - Solid game except for glaring mistake
Taylor 5 - Goals keep coming from his side
McNeil 7 - Decent on and off the ball
Brownhill 6 - Best of a poor midfield but nothing creative
Westwood 5 - Not in his best vein of form at the moment
Cork 4 - Showed why he’s been on the bench all season
Cornet 7 - Two good goals but still not in sinc with “the shape”
Wood 4 - No support from midfield granted but needs to create something himself

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Agree with comment Re: Tarks but didn't think he played that bad otherwise. Would probably give him a 6/7. If he just defended then he would be a world beater. The fact he thinks he can play football is the reason why he is with us.KRBFC wrote: ↑Sat Oct 23, 2021 4:58 pmPope 5

Tarkowski 4 why does he think he's Beckenbaur?
Taylor 5
Mcneil 8
Westwood 4 woeful, nothing but give the ball away
Cork 3 comedy
Brownhill 6
Cornet 10 nicked us a point, must wonder why he signed for us
Wood 3 awful again, zero link up play, zero hold up play, just nothing.
Jrod and JBG 4 as expected, neither good enough.
Everything else - Bang on.

Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
Yep, can't believe he gave the man all that time and space to take the corner
Re: Southampton v Burnley - Player Ratings
I'm surprised at some of the marks on Dwight. When he switched to the left it was obvious how much he offers off the ball as the game changed instantly and the freedom down the left had gone once he was there. When he was on the right he dragged their players everywhere creating room for us to get balls in.

Harsh to mark Wood a 5 but playing in front of Cork, Westwood and Brownhill, the best striker in the world world struggle. Still at least the Brighton Iniesta is back on the grass and ready to inject the pace, guile and creativity we are missing so badly....

Dyche 3, I think he is believing his own hype to much. The Vydra substitution was insulting.
