free speech...nothing to debate.
Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
As far as banners go that's class. Richard Masters clutching the pride flag in one hand and doing a thumbs up with another is just **chef's kiss**
Well done Palace fans.

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
Of course the police are now involved.
Croydon Metropolitan Police have released a statement on Twitter, which says: "On Saturday 23 October police received a report of an offensive banner displayed by Crystal Palace fans.
"Officers are assessing the information and carrying out enquiries. Any allegations of racist abuse will be taken very seriously."

Has this guy actually been proven to do these things? Or is it the perception of the guy?
Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
Unfortunately we have a dubious relationship with SA as we supply them with arms and they supply us with oil, so Governments in this Country don't want to "rock the boat" so to speak.. never the less a very relevant banner.

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
Well done to Palace fans for having the cajones to express their opinion /free speech. It's a valid opinion IMO given the death of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Turkey.
Wonderful that the Met has time to investigate this given the rising violence rates in London and the huge number of unsolved crimes (and all the ongoing investigations into its own officers).

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
To be fair, there have been plenty of examples of people “passing” the test only for it to become apparent that they shouldn’t have.
This however seems to be the extreme. As stated by keadbelly, you’d think the met would have other priorities….

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
As said above free speech ( whether you agree with it or not) and against a regime. It’s difficult to see where the racism element is from the banner alone that the police are investigating.

The police won't get too involved in this..quite rightly.

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
The police will investigate because it has been reported. But it would have been best for them to issue a very swift and brief statement upon receiving the complaint saying they won't be considering it any further.

Perhaps players who are keen to support the Anti Racist anti hobophobic alleged agenda of the Premier league will think twice about signing for this clearly tainted club
Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
Won’t happen as they are all quite happy to play a World Cup in a country where it is actually illegal to be homosexualWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 9:33 amPerhaps players who are keen to support the Anti Racist anti hobophobic alleged agenda of the Premier league will think twice about signing for this clearly tainted club

No time for the Palace ultras normally (clearly bored stockbrokers and middle managers) but this is great, and I hope more opposition fans do this

Perhaps the makers of the banner should put in on tee shirts they would make serious money

Can’t imagine a criminal act has been committed. Guessing that displaying the banner will have broken stadium rules though but doubt the CPFC fans will care about that.

I don’t think this is racist or that a criminal act has been committed. However, there could be a civil action against those who put it up unless they are able to link the new owners to terrorism.

I think the law says something like - if someone thinks it is racist then it is racist.

You need evidence you can't go around slandering people even if you are pretty sure it's right, we all think that & the other about certain things but unless you can back up what you are saying it's wise to keep your gob shut. If the police prosecute them no sympathy from me.

What's the difference then if someone turns up at a football match proclaiming ISIS or the Taliban are terrorists?Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Sun Oct 24, 2021 4:03 pmYou need evidence you can't go around slandering people even if you are pretty sure it's right, we all think that & the other about certain things but unless you can back up what you are saying it's wise to keep your gob shut. That's proved beyond reasonable doubt but you still need to back up what you are saying, some of us thought jimmy saville was a sex pest preying on kids all them years ago but you can't just say things without proof to back up what you are saying.

Re: Crystal Palace's Banner
I was expecting this thread to have been blocked some time back, over sensitivity towards political correctness....that said, I'm good with free speech and additionally Panorama and other tv programme makers came up with some pretty solid evidence some time back. Unfortunately some people are pretty much untouchable.
Well done Palace fans.
