Some details of engineering works this weekend ahead of Saturdays Brentford game.
Have a look if you're coming by train via Hebden Bridge.

Re: Northern Trains Saturday 30th October
I’m coming up from the Midlands on Saturday, and rail replacement service from Manchester. It is possible however to catch a train to Blackburn via Salford Crescent, then Blackburn to Burnley Central. Will cost a little bit more but better than catching a bus.mikeS wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 6:50 pmSome details of engineering works this weekend ahead of Saturdays Brentford game.

Re: Northern Trains Saturday 30th October
We only used the train once from Manchester and the train stopped at Rochdale due to flooding
We now use the Witch Bus and train to Piccadilly from Reading

I used to catch the X43 too. However my bladder cannot cope with the bouncing around between Rawtenstall and Burnley. I’m getting old now!
Re: Northern Trains Saturday 30th October
I have friends who are Brentford fans who told me about the planned engineering work some time ago. They were saying it was a little difficult for their fans to book trains to Burnley this Saturday.
One group of around 100 are travelling by train to Leeds and have booked 2 coaches to bring them from Leeds to Burnley.
I believe they have sold all of their ticket allocation.

Didn't Northern Trains get killed off?? (Because they were utterly crap!)
Re: Northern Trains Saturday 30th October
They’d have been much better off doing London to Preston. That coach will take a long time from Leeds

Still operating as Northern but being operated as a nationalised concern now, I think.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 8:06 pmDidn't Northern Trains get killed off?? (Because they were utterly crap!)

Re: Northern Trains Saturday 30th October
Since Avanti took over from Virgin on the West Coast mainline the fares have rocketed.
If I decide to go to a London away match this season, instead of driving to Penrith and going to Euston, I'm going to drive the extra fifty minutes to Darlington and go down to Kings Cross. It's the principle of the thing.

Aye if I go to London now I'll go from Leeds. Refuse to be ripped off by Avanti, for a poor service as well.

Some on here will remember the old Advance Apex tickets you bought at the station a month in advance. Really cheap. The ticket destination was printed, Ie Burnley to Euston but the date and time was written on by hand by the ticket office.
If you needed to change the date and time All you needed to get was an ink eraser and carefully rub out the old date and write your own date and time in.
They should bring em back

You used to be able to get a train ticket to London off the back of your washing powder box they should bring them backmikeS wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 8:24 amSome on here will remember the old Advance Apex tickets you bought at the station a month in advance. Forgot to add... in the mid-90s you could pay the guard a fiver to upgrade to First Class. Depending on the day of travel you often never saw a guard.
