Robert Fripp, one of the best guitarists to come out of the prog-rock era.
Crimson gigs are still brilliant.
Toyah never could sing.

Bit of an odd couple musically, I think she made a mint with the hit 'It's a Mystery' whereas he seems a bit more bohemian.

Re: Toyah & Bob
I don’t think anyone could accuse Bob Fripp of grabbing limelight. I’ve seen Crimson live and he sat in a chair in the semi dark at the side of the stage playing amazing guitar letting the others get the glory. And he certainly shouldn’t need the money, In the Court of the Crimson King alone sold in ship loads and still sells.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Tue Oct 26, 2021 9:13 pmRobert Fripp, one of the best guitarists to come out of the prog-rock era.

King Crimson first appeared as one of the backup acts at the Rolling Stones Hyde Park concert in 1969. I thought that they were crap then and my opinion hasn’t changed in all these years. When I first heard the title and the record of 21st Century Schizoid Man, I suffered perhaps the most cringeworthy musical moment of my entire life.

I'm no fan of prog, that said, 21st Century Schizoid Man is a good track. If this was the most cringe-worthy musical moment of your entire life, then you must have lived a very charmed life, musically.

I knew it wouldn’t be too long before you turned up, BC. For me they were the epitome of pretentiousness. Everything about them just reeked. I particularly didn’t like the way that RP just sat on a chair in the middle of the stage. He was a tit then and is now just a massive implant.

Don’t be silly. One half of the pair that this thread is about. The implant. I just used the initials to avoid having to write his name out.

Okay, okay. So it should have been RF. That’s the last time I try using initials. I’ve never done it before. It must be something I picked up from UTC. Ooops!

Ironically, it took you much longer having to explain why you used the initials than actually using their real names.dermotdermot wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 7:19 pmDon’t be silly. I played 'In the Court of the Crimson King' album in its entirety, yes including Moonchild, the other week and I find it hard to believe 21st Century Schizoid Man was recorded in 1969. For me it's still fresh and way ahead of it's time.

Bob played the guitar on Bowie's 'Heroes'.
He's a really pleasant unassuming chap.

Re: Toyah & Bob
I thought I'd missed out on Robert plant singing with King crimson. Would that have improved them much? I'm not so sure.
On the other hand, he could have added some talent to the beatles. I'm sure he and George Harrison might have made the start of a decent quartet.
Perhaps Robert plant and Robert fripp with ABBA would be preferable, though. The beatles should have made do with toyah.

on whoever's death is second, Bob and Toyah's entire wealth will go to some sort of charity for music education.
They are very decent people.
