Brentford keeper Raya out injured

Post by Quickenthetempo » Tue Oct 26, 2021 8:19 pm

4 or 5 months out apparently. Serious injury picked up against Leicester.

All the best and quick recovery to the lad.

Let's hope that whoever their other keeper is, is bloody awful!

Represented Spain at every level and was playing in La Liga last season, so sadly I suspect he won't be that bad

Funny how the great unwashed down t'boll-e-wood thought he was a donkey ... yet here he is a Prem Keeper ... whilst they are a mid table (or lower 😉) Chumpy bunch of cloggers ...

All the best for the lad though ... its never nice to hear of long term injuries (even if they do benefit us 🙂)

Álvaro Fernández is meant to be a bit ropey on crosses so I live in hope :D

Hopefully too with being relegated last season he’ll be a bit nervy compared to the rest of them who are on a high after promotion

Reminds me of the keeper that played against us a couple of year back for West Ham. Similar background

Raya is an excellent sweeper keeper ,excellent feet ,seen him train under Ben Benson at Rovers and the team were never really good enough to fully utilise the option he gave them . Had no idea he was at Brentford but makes a lot of sense when you think of their style. Hopefully not too badly injured

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when some on here are reduced to hoping a team's second-string goalie performs poorly in order for us to get a win at home against newly-promoted opponents.

Not just the keeper who will be missing for Brentford on Saturday, they have several injury problems.

Their backup Fernandez last played regularly for a relegated team in Spain. He played 58 times for them and conceded almost 70 goals.

Unless Cornet has his shooting boots on we still probably couldn't score against him at the moment.

Agreed, what we need is more people whinging about our players at every level be it under 18s, 23s or 1st team

I go into every Burnley game hoping the opposition’s keeper has a mare to be honest.

Is that what you have sunk to ? Don't you wish he had a brilliant game and kept a clean sheet

Well it would suit the narrative for some on here if he did.

I’ve never hoped that an opponent plays well against us! :?

You're probably not trying to appear to be in the cool school.

Even weirder for someone to think it is desperate to not want a member of the opposition team to have a good game. Some of ours really do earn the dingle tag

This is getting silly now lads

No one remotely pretending to be a Burnley fan can say with a straight face that this isn't good news for us, and if you don't want the other team to have an absolute mare whenever we play, then, well, what on earth is wrong with you?

:D but what if you revel in us not winning and love nothing more than being on here within seconds of a defeat ?

Sadly mate you can't help people like that

I have an hours drive to get home, and that sorts me out

Certainly some need to have an half an hour calm down period before posting

Though it would be less entertaining!

Don't think anyone is saying they want Brentford's keeper to have a good game, unless I'm missing something? If we want to stay up we need to be good enough to get the points ourselves, not rely on other teams doing it for us.

We are desperate, 1 home PL win this calendar year, and it's nearly November.

Now if Brentford have injury problems then all the better for us to take advantage of their woes, and if we can't beat a newly promoted team who are likely to be depleted, then we probably don't deserve to stay in this league.

When Heaton nobbled himself a few years back it didn't harm us in the slightest. Might even have done us a bit of good.

Brentford won't be affected.....it's not like they've gone into a Prem season with Diego Penny as back up.

Absolutely. Additionally let’s hope Saturday’s fight back from a goal behind going into the later stages of the second half is a good omen that we are beginning to turn a corner
