Nathan Collins
A truly shining light, yet again, in what was a pretty dismal team performance. This young centre half will prove to be an absolutely first class signing.
Well played, Nathan!

Just hope he keeps his position for Saturday. SD will need to make a tough call but for me Tarks & Collins should start. For those that went tonight how did Roberts play ??

Re: Nathan Collins
Totally agree, looks comfortable on the ball! Didnt realise he was only 20, very promising prospect - definitely reminded me of a Tarkowski character the way he did over Bergwijn at the end.
Great signing, infact all the signings from the Pace era have been very good so far! UTC
From what I saw, Robert's very promising - needs to polish up the simple stuff, but brimming with confidence and offers something different. The long throw could be a nice addition to the set piece arsenal.

Re: Nathan Collins
I put on the board before we signed him, that I wanted us to go in for Roberts, so it would be easy to try and find the positives that weren’t there tonight.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:47 pmJust hope he keeps his position for Saturday. In truth, the conditions were pretty poor and he played a strict right back role, where he is perhaps a little better suited to playing higher up the pitch, as a wing back. He didn’t seem to throw himself forward and get crosses in like we know he’s capable of doing. I think it would be wrong to judge Roberts on this evening‘s performance, as I know there is a fantastic player there. He’s clearly a very confident young man, who I think will shine once familiar with first-team football at this club.

Re: Nathan Collins
There hasn't been much to excite Burnley fans this season, but Collins & Cornet are bright sparks amongst all the doom and gloom.
Roberts can hardly be judged on 1 appearance, but the 90 minutes will serve him well going forwards.

Very very good again, my MOM. I wouldn't be surprised to see him move to a side like Brighton who play 3 at the back if we were relegated.

Re: Nathan Collins
Collins has earned the right to be selected to start on Saturday. I hope if Dyche doesn’t select all three to start he puts either Tarkowski or Mee on the bench before Collins.
We’re going nowhere this season but down with our woeful midfield and strikers unless Cornet continues his wonder form and Wood gets the rest he needs.
To continue with the present would be a mistake in my opinion regardless of Dyche’s past achievements

Re: Nathan Collins
Great to hear about Roberts. We need to get our best players starting, and he is one of them. Absolutely no point in persevering with Lennon and JBG when you have him in the squadBertiesView wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:48 pmTotally agree, looks comfortable on the ball! Collins was good but so was Mee. Hard to know what to do for dyche as Mee is captain and Tarks ain’t as good on the left.

Re: Nathan Collins
Chris Wood will be off with New Zealand for around 6 weeks starting January on World Cup Qualification duties so I dread to think how much more rest he will be needing after that.
I lost count of the number of times I posted on here during the summer pointing out our lack of goals (3rd lowest scoring team in the PL last season) so the problems were there for us all to see but were never addressed. We are now where we are sadly.
Re: Nathan Collins
But why ???Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:17 pmExactly. He’s taken his chance, been superb but Mee will slot right back into the side no doubt. Collins couldn’t have done anymore..

Thank god for that? Can we send him now to get acclimatised? Absolutely sick of seeing him standing around up front contributing nothing.kentonclaret wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 11:00 pmChris Wood will be off with New Zealand for around 6 weeks starting January on World Cup Qualification duties so I dread to think how much more rest he will be needing after that.
Thought he was outstanding back end of last season. Pressing, working the channels, physical, and goals of course. None of those this season, but for me more crucially none of the effort and for that reason he needs dropping.

Easy. Collins drops back to the bench and our two best, and most experienced defenders come into the starting eleven.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Wed Oct 27, 2021 10:48 pmCollins was good but so was Mee. Hard to know what to do for dyche as Mee is captain and Tarks ain’t as good on the left.
Excellent that we appear to have such a solid backup though, and someone who will soften the blow when Tarks leaves.

Re: Nathan Collins
But there is the argument that you play well, you keep the shirt. I guess it doesn’t matter as Collins is clearly a good lad and will obviously keep working but maybe he deserves to keep playing. We’ve conceded less with him in the team...
Anyway, at his age, he’s ******* class and the potential he has is huge. Shame he’s not English as he’d already be worth £80 million...

Our Tarky replacement is well and truly in the building. Another stunningly good performance from Collins tonight.

Re: Nathan Collins
Plays like he’s 28 and been at this level his whole career. Man of the match tonight.
If it allows us to bring in a good central midfielder, I’d seriously consider flogging Tarky in January (perhaps loaning a backup CB in to bench sit ahead of Long).

We are in safe hands when Tarky goes but we also need a backup who is very good also (i.e. not Long).

Re: Nathan Collins
Collins has started 2 PL games for us, Norwich and Wolves, and we've kept clean sheets in both, and those are our only PL cleans sheets to date this season, coincidence or not.

Not sure about that right now.
Tonight we've done in defence something we've not been doing much this season...shutting a decent team out.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m not so worried about the fact that Tarky is leaving at the end of the season. Collins is going to be a top drawer player for us.
