Now that is a blow. I'm actually quite concerned. We were looking stagnant before this and now we have taken another step backwards. I really don't see who can replace him in our current setup. Joe Martin will be a candidate for opening the batting with Ben..and we know he isn't that keen on batting there. I thought we were a decent batsman light to begin with as well but to lose one of if not the best is worrying. I can only hope Stan and co can pull some rabbits out of hats this winter.
Think Lowerhouse need to blood some younger players sooner rather than later or they could be in trouble in a year of two. Blez, Frankie, Finchy etc can't go on forever contributing.

I keep getting told that those that are old enough are not good enough and the good ones are too young. I think at some point there has to be a regular spot in the team for a youngster or two.
Make no mistake about it losing who I considered our best and fastest scoring batsman from a team that already doesn't score freely is a hammer blow. I wouldn't fancy us for the T20 this coming season anyway :D

Now now...you can't be that desperate to get people through the gate? You may have the members but from what I've seen very few of them actually turn up to watch. :D More atmosphere at Bacup :D

You’d be surprised. It can get very vociferous when big hitters like Walsden and Darwen come to town.

Always difficult to get up for games against mid table cannon fodder 😉

We all know that is because they bring supporters. Put it one way I haven't been to a game at Burnley where there are less House supporters than Burnley. I'd go as far to say more Burnley fans turn up at the games at Lowerhouse than they do at home games against us..which I find odd.

Cannon fodder? Ahem..85 all out? (cough) ;) :D

They must have the comfiest seats at cricket now though, after getting them from the directors box at the Turf.

Agree, I like to get down for a chin wag 2-3 times a season and those seats are great

Leigh vs Rainhill

Cheshire Lines vs Horwich RMI

Feniscowles vs Read

Norden CC vs Heysham

Farnworth Social Circle vs Lancaster

Skelmersdale vs Longridge

Little Lever vs Roe Green

Ribblesdale Wanderers vs Barrow

Darwen vs Walsden

Ormskirk vs Knight Riders

Prestwich vs Clifton

Netherfield vs Formby

Settle vs Burnley

Kirkham & Wesham vs Westhoughton

Not that you would listen..but there was an interesting piece on the House podcast in which Joe Martin alludes to the team (if not the club) being very relieved they are not in it. They apparently see it as a bit of a joke tournament. When you can lose on a coin toss you have to agree.

Tough draw for Burnley is that.

Still only one team in Burnley had a hand on it though. :D

I am looking forward to a day out in Settle. Lovely part of the world. I agree about the coin toss though it was a long way to go to toss a coin. Surely in this day and age they can do it on zoom?

Tbf, I’m certain the trophy would have been at a Lancashire club quite a few times had they been able to take it seriously. It’s a shame.

When you have so many clubs from different leagues that play on different days, then bowl outs and coin tosses are necessary, unfortunately.

I do wish that clubs, from the same leagues, couldn't play each other until later rounds though.

I get the feeling it is not confined to the Lowerhouse players that think this way either. I think many players are of the belief it isn't very well organised and causes issues regarding availabilty and fixture congestion/travelling distance.

Strange competition.

It’s a bit like the league cup, lack of interest all round until the later rounds.

For me the concept is all wrong, look at the draw of Ormskirk V Knightriders, utterly pointless.

It should be limited to 16 teams, maybe league winners and runners up plus maybe cup winners from Premier leagues and maybe have a pre qualifying for some of the lesser leagues/clubs or maybe even a separate comp for them.

It has potential to be a flagship comp but it’s just not executed very well.

You can understand the Lancs League clubs not being that fussed about it now, as they have brought big clubs in from the rest of the leagues in Lancashire and play them every season.

Along with other leagues merging it's probably not the spectacle it once was, but I used to love it in the 90s. Getting a coach to the away games made them big days out.

If it's the new signing, then how can legal action start before he's played a game?

Been a few changes at Colne. Maybe Lenny has been doing the pre season boxing training with them?

Running a thirds team again next year so maybe he's getting his whites out to add a bit of experience?
