Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
With the cricket season finishing over 2 months ago and preparations now being made for the 2022 season just wondering if any transfers have been confirmed in the Lancashire League and Ribblesdale League or if there are any rumours of player transfers.
I notice there are only 3 clubs in the Lancs League still looking for a professional. Have most clubs in the Ribblesdale League got a professional signed up as well. Any stand out names from the pro’s signed already.
Also did the Lancs League get ECB Premier League Status for next year.
Hopefully we’ll see a return to the norm with cricket teas returning.

Declan Bailey is a decent signing for Read from Whalley.
Mini Bhada has left Feniscowles as pro. It was said in the summer he was joining Haslingden with 4 or 5 more from the club. Not announced yet though.

They need to be getting the remains of the recent bonfire sorted first! Stan at Lowerhouse will surely have theirs lush with grass already, whereas I noticed the other day that Rocky's is right next to the square and still visible from space!Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Mon Nov 15, 2021 10:14 pmI think Rawtenstall might still be looking for their professional, literally….

Unless Stan has those infra red lights they have at footy grounds, which wouldn't surprise me with all the "groundsmen" they seem to have , I don't think the grass will be that lush at the minute and will have recovered just yet.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 8:51 amThey need to be getting the remains of the recent bonfire sorted first! The bonfire at Rawtenstall was in a slightly different location this year due to a Fire Service request.
Come the Spring time, the only way you can see there's been any sort of bonfire is the area actually grows back thicker, and greener than the rest of the field after seeding. The fire location is literally the best part of the outfield..

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
I'll watch that with interest!! They couldn't even raise a 2nd team on more than one occasion last season and had to "borrow" players from other clubs to fulfill fixtures. Borrowing is now allowed for fixtures below first team level up to a maximum of 5 per game and they definitely borrowed the maximum (from the 'Ouse) for at least one game and actually wanted to take more than 5 until the umps pointed out it wasn't allowed. It would definitely be a dramatic turn around to find Accy 1sts "bouncing back" and challenging for promotion.Longsidelenny1882 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 12:18 pmHerd accy are going for it big time next season let’s wait and see upthecolne

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
I wonder if Lowerhouse will be going into the season with exactly the same squad again? I think we could do with one or two additions in certain areas and I'm not sure we have the youngsters to fill those positions at the moment. We have a very capable first eleven but when injury and holiday time comes we do look weaker and I am of the belief it is these "fine margins" that are stopping us being as consistent as we need to be. I just think at least one good new face could tip the balance.

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
Personally I think it would be a mistake to bring in someone from outside unless one of the present players leaves. The House have some very promising young players they may not be quite ready but it would be a shame to lose them because of lack of opportunities.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:53 amI wonder if Lowerhouse will be going into the season with exactly the same squad again? Indeed. Like I say...consistency. Burnley beaten..Darwen beaten..Clitheroe twice. I was at Crompton and we were inexplicably poor against a poor team. Shockingly poor at collecting bonus points too. We certainly lost one position in the table purely down to that.Local cricketer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 17, 2021 6:59 pmThe league table never lies though. Lowerhouse peaked in May, Burnley in September. Despite this we still ended up with the same amount of silverware so not all bad

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
Fair to say he was very inconsistent. Showed glimpses with the bat and his bowling was generally tight without being overly threatening. I don't think he was ever likely to be a Smit/Price type gamewinning pro though.
I'm not 100% on this but i think our amateurs outperformed him with the bat and our bowlers with the ball..certainly with regards taking wickets. I may be wrong on that though.

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
I wouldn't be at all suprised to see Parry have a much better season with the ball next year.
I would imagine he is still bowling a length, and a pace that he is used to from playing Championship, but especially one day and T20 cricket.
His fugures would suggest this, he hasn't gone for many runs, but hasn't really gone through teams either.
A bit of the Keith Roscoe "flight and guile" and he'll take bucket loads of wickets.

Re: Rumours/Transfers (Cricket)
With Salesbury signing a new professional does that mean Liam Bedford is back at Burnley?
Also I notice Colne are looking for new players after the tweet they put out yesterday. Does that mean they have lost some players or do they want to strengthen for a quick return to Div 1.

Colne are running a 3rd team again next summer so I'm guessing that's the reason. Not sure it's the best move really they were struggling to get a 2nd team out at times last summer.RBFC wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 1:21 pmWith Salesbury signing a new professional does that mean Liam Bedford is back at Burnley?

I believe part of that is that after a few years where the junior teams fizzled out, they are now up and running again and some of the older juniors are ready for longer matches at weekend.

I was at Rawtenstall last Friday but was told the big black patch would be the best part of the outfield come the start of the season. Mind you, I also learned last Friday that the playing area at Rawtenstall is the fifth biggest of the traditional 14 Lancashire League clubs.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Nov 16, 2021 8:51 amThey need to be getting the remains of the recent bonfire sorted first! It's cheaper to sign a Sri Lankan Pro than a decent amateur from the Lancs league for a Ribb league club looking for a professional.

Always is Tony, you see how well moorland recovers after wildfires, the area where the bonfire has been is so green it looks like false grass in the summer.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Dec 03, 2021 12:00 amI was at Rawtenstall last Friday but was told the big black patch would be the best part of the outfield come the start of the season. There is a miss-conception regarding the size of Bacup Raod, yes width wise it’s not massive, but if you’re right in the centre is certainly more than a flick for six.
In terms of the length of the ground though, it’s considerably longer than Bacup, East Lancs, Rishton, Colne, Haslingden just to name a few, without even mentioning the new teams who’ve joined the league.

There looks to be a few good players in each of the junior teams, so a good chance to give them experience of the next stage up, and keep them developing.

Now that is a blow. I'm actually quite concerned. We were looking stagnant before this and now we have taken another step backwards. I really don't see who can replace him in our current setup. Joe Martin will be a candidate for opening the batting with Ben..and we know he isn't that keen on batting there. I thought we were a decent batsman light to begin with as well but to lose one of if not the best is worrying. I can only hope Stan and co can pull some rabbits out of hats this winter.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:55 pmBig blow for Lowerhouse losing Jonny Whitehead to Southport.
