BFC New Years Memorial Presentation

Post by ClaretAL » Mon Nov 22, 2021 9:29 am

Hi all,

Would anyone know when this will be open for submissions or who to contact at the club regarding this, now that we have lots of new heads at the club? I need to get My wife's photo on there, has anyone down this in the past? how many loops do you need to jump through etc, just so I can prepare.

The annual In Memoriam has always been organised by Darren Bentley (on behalf of Burnley FC) and myself (Burnley FC Supporters Groups) although mainly Darren.

It doesn't include photographs. A list of the names submitted go into the club programme and the same list appears on the big screen during the minute's silence.

I've contacted the club and am awaiting info as to who my contact will now be.

CT will probably announce it on here wben he knows ... but keep your eye on the BFC website ... I was given an email address from last year (or earlier) emailed it but not had a reply (wasn't returned as unavailable either 🤔)

It's always a moving tribute and watching the big screen it's so sad to see the number of fellow Clarets we have lost. Ages ranging from toddlers to the old aged and from towns all across the country.
My deepest sympathy to all who have family & friends that will be shown on the screen. May they RIP.

Just added my Uncle Bert whom we lost this year to covid after he went into hospital covid free. He was the man that took me on when my Dad couldn’t get off work. I can’t get on the match but I’ll certainly buy the programme.

All names received will join the list of former players and staff who have sadly died and will be displayed on the big screen during the one-minute silence. All names will also appear on the website and social media on the day of the fixture.
Are the names not going in the programme?
That reads like it’s just going to be an “electronic” list

The piece that went on the club's website today up to the needless bit at the bottom, was sent to me a couple of weeks ago to see if it was ok. I mentioned they'd forgotten the programme which was acknowledged so I was expecting it to be included. I'll speak to them again, the programme is important. When my next door neighbour's name was included, his family all wanted copies as a keepsake.

Absolutely it is important. I get the feeling if CT had not pestered them so much about how important this is to the supporters and something their passed love ones used to cherish every year for all the clarets who had sadly passed, I am starting to feel the club would have happily let it slip to the wayside, either that or Zero effort is starting to thrive at the club.

from BFC website:

Due to the postponement of our Leicester City fixture and the planned activities for Ben Mee’s 10 Year Anniversary at Tuesday evening’s Watford game, our In Memoriam matchday will now take place at our Premier League fixture against Manchester United on Tuesday 8th February.

We want to thank all supporters who submitted names of loved ones ahead of the Leicester fixture.

A one-minute silence will commence before kick-off on the evening, as we commemorate the loss of all members of the Clarets family who have passed away in 2021.

As a mark of reflection, the submitted names will join the list of former players and staff who have sadly died and will be displayed on the big screen during the one-minute silence. All names will also appear on the website and social media on the day of the fixture.

Our In Memoriam matchday was initially proposed by the Supporters’ Liaison Group (SLG) and remains a key date in the Club calendar as it continues to be a source of solace to many.

Burnley Football Club want to thank you for your understanding and on behalf of everybody connected to the Club, we would like to pass on our sincere condolences to supporters for your loss.
