Food Bank collection

Post by Vintage Claret » Thu Nov 25, 2021 9:01 pm

Will there be a collection point at the top or bottom of the cricket field entrance walkway off Belvedere Rd this Sunday?

Bought a few extra tins during the weekly 'big shop' today to donate but as we're having a couple of scoops in town after the game just wanted to check so I'm not carrying them around with me all afternoon :-)

Yes, usual three places including Ormerod Yard (the cricket field entrance walkway) and thanks for your support Vintage Claret.

There was which is perfect for us entering that way, it was quite funny last weekend, as I held the rucksack for my wife to get the tins out the bag the operator was chatting to us and as he lifted the lid on one of the bins a young chap who had walked past earlier saw what was happening came back and reached out with his empty coffee cup and was about to drop it in the bin, assuming it was for rubbish, we all had a laugh about it. We’ll done by the way to everyone giving up their time to do the collections. I’ve sorted my tins for Sunday.

WYClarets are doing it and we’ve agreed, if all eight bins can be filled, we’ll do our next collection in swimwear!

Is it just tins or do you want other things eg pasta toiletries etc? What are the most desirable tins eg beans, tuna etc? Keep up the great work! UTC

After doing a food bank here. Tinned goods are great but even better if they have pop top lids.

Small amounts of cooking oil helps with things like boxed cake mixes pasta etc etc.

One down the lane by the cricket ground, also at old players entrance and club shop corner.

Thanks to those who contributed today. Obviously a quieter day due to finishing early and there being no game.

It could be worse.

John Walters has tweeted something about Celtic fans getting fined 60 quid each while collecting for a food bank in Glasgow.

Bloody hell. Jon Walters has done a lot of work with the Liverpool & Everton lads supporting the foodbank.

Never made it to The Turf today due to that pesky snowy stuff so still have a carrier bag full of stuff which I'll bring down to the West Ham game instead.

Well done anyway to the guys/gals who turned out today and collected/donated today despite the inclement weather.

I'll keep my tins for next time, I was on the way to the ground when the postponement was called.

All well in date!

As above, well done to the collectors.
