Good luck to them. There will of course be a figure where it would be in our best interests to cash in and put towards strengthening the squad, but £7m isn’t it.

That’s £7m minus Brentfords cut. He’s having a larf.

Imagine any bid now is just token to demonstrate to the player that they’ve held a long term interest come summer.

I don't think Brentford would get a cut from that. Not enough to affect the decision, anyway. How much did we pay for him?

They would get a cut, it's more than we paid for him.

We don't need to sell and we know their new shareholder is loaded.

Bidding starts at £30 million.

Tarks ain't gonna rock the boat now and demand to leave when he can go in the summer for free and get a larger signing on fee.

Counter offer from us of “£98m and he’s yours, whilst we’re both being silly”.

Hopefully They get into a bidding war with Newcastle. Wonder if he would still go to Newcastle if they are still at the bottom.

Unfortunately they’ll probably get him for around £10/12 million. Peanuts considering not that long ago he was probably worth double that and more.

He will probably go for 10m if they offer it.

Be a shame but I guess we have had our moneys worth out of Tarks

15m plus extensive add ons (CL qualification etc) and I’ll shake Moyes hand, likewise Tarkys.

I have heard (do not shoot the messenger) that we have enquired for Eric Bailly on loan from Man United for January. The person who told me this is not a liar, and he only says stuff on very rare occasions (and has a decent record too). It was knocked back due to Ole being on the verge at the time, but maybe this would be revisited.

Not our decision though, is it?

Why would Tarks go somewhere in January when he’ll have his choice of teams in the summer and could pocket the fee we’d receive?

I questioned what I thought on another thread when some were saying we'd need north of £20 million to consider Tarks going in January. Not a chance, I'd expect £7-8 million and imo I think the club would take it.

Will he get a better offer than West Ham if he waits till the summer though? Not sure he would, it might be in his interest to move in case they move their attention to somebody else.

So this lad Roberts can play RB, WR, CM and now CB

And our manager doesn't think he's yet good enough to start anywhere

As for the £7m, I would have thought that would be the kind of figure JT would be looking at for himself as a signing on deal in a summer move

He can play anywhere can the lad. If Pope got injured I’d have no problem with him taking the gloves plus he could play up top. A right footed Cornet

If he was set on West Ham, that’s the only risk. I’m sure he’d get over it with a massive signing on fee/wage hike elsewhere though! At this stage of his career, I’d imagine he’ll want to maximise the best possible financial outcome and that won’t be by leaving for a fee in January to any club.

And from our perspective, is £7m worth risking the £80m or so you lose from relegation? A resounding no from me.

As an aside, because my point is generic to any club, but it also doesn’t make much sense for West Ham. Their injury is to Ogbonna, a LCB. Zouma can play there but it’s not his best position. Moyes also has Dawson as RCB cover. Signing a LCB to cover the ACL-injured 33yo, who may never return to previous fitness/form, rather than a 3rd RCB, would make much more sense to me.

But... But.. Tarks is slow and clumsy and nowhere near good enough to challenge Mings or slab head for the England gig. I've read all about it on here.

Yet a very experienced manager of a side in the top 4 is trying to sign him. Moyes needs to wise up and read this forum.

The overwhelming majority on here believe Tarkowski has been brilliant for us and is good enough to play for a bigger club. Disregard the views of a very small minority who get pleasure out of being negative at every juncture. Tarkowski will be a big miss.

Fantastic player for us but West Ham is probably his level. Playing European football will probably be a step too far for him.

Think he’s still used there but yeah someone like him on the cheap would be good. Possibly Phil Jones? That way the £8m or so we make on Tarks (if we could get circa £10-12m) can be put towards a new starting central midfielder.

His agent will be in his ear now BEGGING him not to sign for anyone in January…. He will want his big chunk of the massive signing on fee that would be incoming.

But even if offers do come in, the club would be daft to consider owt less than £12m even tho we are in no position to bargain. I suppose they can offer and we can accept but if big Jim says no, he doesn’t go, or will he have to go? Not sure how much say he will have tbh.

West Ham trying to get Tarks on the cheap for under £10m is not an endorsement in any way that he is better than either Maguire and Mings.

I think a move to a team like West Ham or Leicester will give him a chance to show there's a lot more to his game than he gets to show playing the way Burnley do. If he was a couple of years younger I could see him possibly breaking in to the England squad as a regular member (though not a starter)

He's been immense for us and I think he will do well wherever he goes but no way is Tarks close to being as good as Maguire and if Maguire had 6 months left on his contract and was wanting a move then Moyes and bigger and better teams would be looking to offer a lot more than £7m to get his signature

He hasn't proven to be as good as most of the England team's centre halves and certainly not in the way Southgate wants his team to play, but West Ham aren't just interested in because he may be a cheap signing.

Well we ain't going to be spending another £10-15 million on a replacement for Collins as we'd expect him to be our first choice for a couple of seasons at least.

What choice do we have?

Well we ain't going to be spending another £10-15 million on a replacement for Collins as we'd expect him to be our first choice for a couple of seasons at least.

What choice do we have?
This is a constant (problem) for us now.
There is no future or profit in bringing in 30+ year-olds as cover, however it seems to be the only way we can pad out the squad.

He hasn't proven to be as good as most of the England team's centre halves and certainly not in the way Southgate wants his team to play, but West Ham aren't just interested in because he may be a cheap signing.
I never said thats just why they are interested but I was responding to fatboys comment that implied Moyes wanting to sign Tarks had a bearing on peoples views that Tarks isn't as good as Mings or Maguire.

Maguire is a better centre half than Tarks and thats why a team like Leicester who would be a great step up for Tarks couldnt keep hold of him

There's over the top on both sides with idiotic comments about Tarks being just good enough for Burnley and our system and idiotic comments that Tarks should be playing for England and that Maguire is rubbish.

I thought my post was pretty fairly balanced but of course people are free to disagree

Yes it was balanced. I agree Maguire is better than Tarkowski by some distance as is Stones. I do think Tarkowski has been unfortunate not to feature in the Engkand squad more though
