just arrived in Burnley after driving 200 miles. Weather is bad, but they've played in worse! Ahh well... turn around and go home then.

I watched two matches midweek in Moscow with snow everywhere but the pitch was more than playable. Seems odd.

Have we not had the heating on? I cannot imagine it is because of pitch condition, must be approaches unsafe for fans attending.

When was the last game postponed at the Turf? It must be years ago.

Be no doubt heavily influenced by Spurs who've had a midweek European game.

BBC, Sky, Journalists all reporting the game is officially off.

Not one word from Burnley FC official accounts about it, ridiculous.

BBC lenient (for the moment):

"Not much anyone can do, though. The snow continues to bucket down there, the ground staff were fighting a losing battle from the off. There's safety to think of."

A bit snowy yeah but not THAT bad.

Lot's of southern wussies crying that we've ruined their day up north and should be expelled from the PL for being a tin pot club who can't change the weather.

Wouldn't it have been better to delay it for an hour or two?

Think of all the people who have travelled, paid for petrol, rail tickets (some people will have bought plane tickets) hotels, traipsed into town etc etc.

Waiting 2 hours would have been the sensible thing to do. It's all rather pathetic.

If they wait 2 hours then they may all succumb to the new South Africa variant.

What is a joke? The surrounding areas are not great. Public transport is disrupted. The snow doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon. Right call for me if the ref and ground safety staff have determined it needs calling off. Disappointing but get over it.

Under soil heating doesn’t clear snow. It helps prevent sub soil frost.

Strange one really. If the heating isn’t working when did it breakdown? Should have been on overnight you would have thought. If it was broken yesterday there are other methods to protect the pitch.
Most importantly, for me, playing on it could have damaged the pitch long term.

Pretty sure it is the match official and not either club who decide if they play or not. Under soil heating stops the pitch from freezing but it doesn't melt snow as it falls.

That looks pretty unplayable to me, if nothing else but for safety reasons.
