Snowflake in his eyes - WTF ?!
Just imagine a post-match interview with the likes of Gordon Harris, Brian O'Neil, or Colin Blant

According to some on here the problem would have been sunshine in the eyes if we’d have delayed the kick off by half an hour yesterday

Oh come on bud, don’t encourage Rowls. He’s been on one for over 24 hours.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 9:39 amAccording to some on here the problem would have been sunshine in the eyes if we’d have delayed the kick off by half an hour yesterday

According to legend Blant, in his watering hole The Queens in Rawtenstall, explained a below par performance by Best at the Turf by saying ‘I told him in the tunnel that if he came near me I’d break his fckn legs’. And you know, I actually think he meant it.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 8:47 am

Hope nobody sat in the seats behind him criticised or, worse still, called him names.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Sun Nov 28, 2021 11:22 pmIlkay Gudoganan in his post-match interview

Heck, it would have made the whole match experience unbearable for him.

Think Shankley beat him too it, speaking to a young winger newly arrived from Scotland playing against Preston, is how Tommy Doc remembered Shankley welcoming him to Englandhouseboy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:00 pmAccording to legend Blant, in his watering hole The Queens in Rawtenstall, explained a below par performance by Best at the Turf by saying ‘I told him in the tunnel that if he came near me I’d break his fckn legs’. Great story Ian
Howard Kendall always tells a tale about his 1st game against Leeds Utd and how he got his retaliation in on Billy Bremner 1st ... Bremner shouted Norman, Jackie, Paul get the **** and then everytime he got anywhere near the ball he was eating grass face first

Re: Now HE has a right to complain
Now that wouldn’t surprise me at all. These guys played when it was a mans game instead of a theatrical performance. If a player had gone gone rolling around after a glancing touch to the shoulder they wouldn’t have been able to play for laughing.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:05 pmThink Shankley beat him too it, speaking to a young winger newly arrived from Scotland playing against Preston, is how Tommy Doc remembered Shankley welcoming him to England

I played for our village side Bunillidh Thistle in the Highland reserve league. Interesting times as the Scots have a totally different concept of a foul.I had to get my retaliation in early because as soon as they heard my accent I was a marked man.

I'm sure that he did. But planting the seed was probably enoughhouseboy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:00 pmAccording to legend Blant, in his watering hole The Queens in Rawtenstall, explained a below par performance by Best at the Turf by saying ‘I told him in the tunnel that if he came near me I’d break his fckn legs’. Re: Now HE has a right to complain
My dear departed sister was in the year below Blant at Alder Grange school and she said he was a loony then. By all accounts a really decent bloke but once in football boots something clicked inside I think.Bosscat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:08 pm

Re: Now HE has a right to complain
I wasn't in the area at that time but I have heard similar stories from locals.
Merry Christmas Colin. You always made me wince when you went in for a tackle
Re: Now HE has a right to complain
Didn't Tommy Smith say something similar to Taffy on the Turf after he'd megged him or something like that.houseboy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 11:00 pmAccording to legend Blant, in his watering hole The Queens in Rawtenstall, explained a below par performance by Best at the Turf by saying ‘I told him in the tunnel that if he came near me I’d break his fckn legs’. Yes. Changed personality when he put those boots on
I played alongside someone similar.
