Re: Tonight's Games
if we can get a point away at the European Champions then we are more than capable of winning at Wolves and Newcastle

Re: Tonight's Games
There is nothing to fear from the four teams that played tonight, and we've already seen at least a couple more that we can beat
But until we actually beat them.....
But until we actually beat them.....
Re: Tonight's Games
The only way we have a chance of winning a game is by either keeping clean sheets or by outscoring the opposition, both things we look incapable of of doing at present, something needs to change and very quick .

Re: Tonight's Games
Yes, of course the team have demonstrated that they have the potential to win matches but that is totally different to winning them . One win so far is not good enough .Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:00 pmif we can get a point away at the European Champions then we are more than capable of winning at Wolves and Newcastle

Very much looking like our hopes of staying up are relying on us finishing above Norwich, Newcastle and Watford

Re: Tonight's Games
I reckon we’ll finish above Brentford for a start. There are at least 6 teams worse than us and every one of them have worse managers. No need to panic as usual.

Who are these six? Watford, Newcastle, Norwich and who?Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:30 amI reckon we’ll finish above Brentford for a start. There are at least 6 teams worse than us and every one of them have worse managers. No need to panic as usual.

Brentford as I mentioned, Palace, Southampton and Leeds. I’d say Villa, Everton, Wolves and even Brighton are about on a par with us. So actually 7.

Re: Tonight's Games
Brentford are awful, and that’s not just based on us easily dispatching them but their general performances so far. They play like a Cup team from the Championship but that energy will diminish. They were incredibly lucky at home against a rank bad Everton who had Richarlison and DCL unavailable.
If we don’t finish above them we deserve to go down.

I doubt they'll change that much, barring some very unexpected results like Watford beating Chelsea and/or Man City.Rumpelstiltskin wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 11:44 pmF5828836-CB9B-4001-BE9A-458BCB906267.png

I would be amazed if they don’t finished above 15th this season.

It’s like being in a burning down building and going the decor is nice though.

The building has been burning down for 6 seasons and it’s still standing firm with the roof fully on

Not true. We were far worse in the Europa season before Christmas than we have been this season.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:53 amIt really hasn’t at all. We have been great in the prem until 2021.
Re: Tonight's Games
Indeed we were. We'd reached the half point at 19 matches on 12 points. But then moved up a gear and got a further 28 points in the last 19 matches.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:01 amNot true. We were far worse in the Europa season before Christmas than we have been this season.

Re: Tonight's Games
We tend to compare ourselves to teams when they have a bad day, and comparing them against our better performances. Brighton, Wolves & Villa are capable of gaining 3 points from the majority of teams in the PL. The law of consistency will define the winners and losers at season endHibsclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:39 amBrentford as I mentioned, Palace, Southampton and Leeds. Re: Tonight's Games
Other than Norwich and Newcastle, the rest of the bottom half are fairly evenly matched, you can see that just by looking at the goal differences.
Hopefully we can end up on the right side of the fine margins over the season as we usually tend to do.

Re: Tonight's Games
Certainly no need to panic as long as we keep playing well
Its quite bizarre, we have been far, far, far worse than this in previous seasons and been a lot higher up the league
I can't work out if its because the league is stronger, and teams are stronger, or that the league is weaker, and so many more teams are weaker

Yes I do. They’re a poor side and will be relegated, whether we are or are not.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 8:47 amSo you think we will over take them and they will be relegated?

Re: Tonight's Games
Er....you do realise we've played 2 games fewer than Norwich and Newcastle don't you? On a comparable basis (which is probably the only valid way of compensating for everyone playing differing numbers of games) you're better off looking at points per game.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 10:45 amYou do realise We are no better than Norwich or newcastle
On a points per game basis, I can assure you we are better than those two teams.....
Have a lovely day....

Of course we are, on pretty much every metric that matters.

Re: Tonight's Games
I think, being fair, it wasn't much of a chance for Vydra at Chelsea but he should have buried that one against Palace.Andreshotboots wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 10:24 pmWe’ve had two good chances to score last minute winners in our last 2 games and not taken them.
We all know we should have more points on the board than we’ve got, but the fact is we haven’t!!!
Re: Tonight's Games
I think it's definitely that the league is stronger. Two years ago we finished 10th, I'd argue with the arrival of Cornet we're better now and we're gonna have a hell of a fight to stay up.Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:46 amCertainly no need to panic as long as we keep playing well

Re: Tonight's Games
But to counter that, many on here are saying our midfield is weaker than two years ago with Cork and Westwood not the players they once were.

Re: Tonight's Games
There’s no accounting for mercenaries mate I admit but ‘top players’ who aren’t past their best generally want to win trophies and want to play in top flight football. They will attract top quality players but they sure as hell ain’t gonna attract the Messi’s of this world.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 8:55 pmshall I get you a list of all the top players who buggered off to China to earn 600k per week from places like La Liga ? Top talent like Curasco etc all followed the money.
