Tonight’s commentary
One of the worst I’ve ever heard.

Darke is very good.
Co-coms was another in the long line who appears to have to talk no matter what. Seems to be the way now.

I think the lass shoehorned a mention of Leeds more than us, I was waiting for her to break into MOT

I guess you weren’t watching on Amazon. Shame as the commentary on there was excellent.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
Absolutely awful, had to watch it in mute. How certain people become commentators/pundits with their shockingly bad research I don't know.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
I think they did their best to try and make a fairly dull game sound interesting. Only criticism would be that they decided on Traore for MOM after about 15 minutes.

I thought it was decent, If you want to hear bad commentary apply to S Matterface Esq c/o ITV Sport.

Always liked Ian Darke, I think a bit of politics in the Andy Gray days moved him from football to boxing within Sky.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
The woman alongside was ruddy awful, just horrendous,at times in fitst half she wouldn't shut up. I appreciate they have to have a balance in todays society but for god's sake if your gonna put a token woman up for the job at least ensure she's got a modicum of talent.
Re: Tonight’s commentary
I like Darke and thought his co-commentator was alright, if a little obsessed with Charlie Taylor (who was great tonight) due to having coached him at Leeds. My issue was with Owen Hargreaves being on punditry.
Re: Tonight’s commentary
Yes. The hesgoals commentary was really bad, wasn’t it.fidelcastro wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:35 pmI haven't got amazon, so watched hesgoals.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
Didn't like listening to the female commentator - too many classic football phrases just used at the wrong moment
After a cross and a corner for Wolves "& the crowd are enjoying this tonight" just because they burst up an applause for the corner! Nonsense like that all game. Sounded like FIFA on the console.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
David Prutton (ex Soton, Forest) doing the color commentary even worse. As an ex pro you’d like to think you’d see the dark arts eye gouge on Collins, but then I remember his career and he never put a tackle in in his life.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
It was excellent…….if you like the co-commentator to constantly use the boring, pre-empted cliches she already had written down about Burnley and also thinking she was getting paid per word spoken.

My favourite bit was when she referred to Charlie’s goals. “But he hasn’t scored this season for Burnley” “Oh I must be thinking of his youth team goals”

Re: Tonight’s commentary
Neither of them shut up throughout the whole game. Darke has seemingly never grasped that a patronising tone is not a good one and still appears obsessed with trivia beyond comprehension; this time it was about a Wolves player who apparently speaks fluent Russian, but not in the dressing room.
As for his assistant, to say she was cliche ridden is an understatement but above all please, please learn to say nothing when there is nothing to say. Have to say I thought Holland and Hargreaves at pitch side were very good, reasoned and considered opinions from two ex-pro's.

Re: Tonight’s commentary
I didn't think it was too bad, but Darke asked her what point Jay Rod would give us and she had no idea. She just garbled on about how we have different strikers but couldn't say how they were different.
I could never do the job, though. I'm clueless about most non-Burnley players!

Re: Tonight’s commentary
Neither are they. They just collect garbled information on 'two banks of four', 'a band of brothers', or 'danger from dead-ball situations'. Most comments are empty and vacuous but above all non-offensive which is all part of the 'beautiful game' handbook. Very much akin to listening to a presentation, the first few minutes are vital to the speaker because anything after that isn't taken in as the boredom threshold is reached allowing the speaker to virtually get away with anything.Fretters wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 12:01 pmI didn't think it was too bad, but Darke asked her what point Jay Rod would give us and she had no idea. He’s obviously never been to Scotland as I’m sure he constantly called Dwight MacNeil

Re: Tonight’s commentary
Got to admit, that bugs me. It shows they don't have a clue about our players. Can you imagine them saying "and here is Raynaldo on the ball"?Judehamish wrote: ↑Thu Dec 02, 2021 8:54 pmHe’s obviously never been to Scotland as I’m sure he constantly called Dwight MacNeil
Re: Tonight’s commentary
We used to have a Biology/Science teacher called Darke at Settle High School in the late 60's he was a complete knob too
