Team v Newcastle
Tarky and Westwood available again. I thought Cork was really good tonight, personally and Collins was man of match. Cornet and Wood were very poor, Rodriguez did quite well when he came on. Some dilemmas ahead for SD:
Pope
Lowton Tarky Mee Taylor
Cornet Westwood Cork McNeil
Rodriguez Wood
Harsh on Collins, but Tarky is not someone I’d ever drop. As I said on another thread though, the emergence of Collins has meant that I’d be fine at selling in January now (to the right buyer for the right price, I.e, no way to Newcastle).

I’d quite like to see Cornet out wide too but not when he’s going to have to be very disciplined and work hard all game tracking Saint-Maximin back.

Brownhill for cork and that looks good. Cornet definitely better on the wing. Either that or we actually play it in behind for him so he has some sort of service.
Re: Team v Newcastle
Thought Cork did well tonight too. Would like to see your team except Vydra for Jay Rod.

Same team that started tonight with Tarkowski back for Collins and Westwood on bench is what I expect Sean to go with

Think this is our strongest eleven. So this team has got to start and we have got to win
Re: Team v Newcastle
Absolutely no chance Westwood starts on the bench. Our top assister this season and the only midfielder who can at least create something.DAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:55 pmSame team that started tonight with Tarkowski back for Collins and Westwood on bench is what I expect Sean to go with

How about Saint-Maximim having to work hard and be disciplined (and stop him from attacking) by tracking Cornet?up_the_clarets_1989 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:43 pmI’d quite like to see Cornet out wide too but not when he’s going to have to be very disciplined and work hard all game tracking Saint-Maximin back.

Re: Team v Newcastle
We've kept 3 clean sheets this season, given that tarkowski is running the clock down and pretty much nailed on to be leaving come end of the season, and the fact that we are playing Newcastle who are reported to be one of the frontrunners to sign him, there's no better time to start the very player that has come in and has 3 clean sheets to his name, bit more than coincidence to me. All of this coupled with the fact we are playing who we are, tarkowski is not going to put them in any more jeopardy than they already are. No brainer for me, he's going to be coming in soon anyway, why not now, Collins starts for me.

Bardsley Tarky Mee Taylor
Lowton Westwood Brownhill McNeil
Cornet Wood
I know it’s a bit unusual. Bardsley has been very solid whenever he has played and Lowton could be moved forward. I think Lowton and Brownhill have shown they are not afraid of scoring but maybe it’s been a while. I want a more aggressive team....less passing back.

I wouldn’t mind trying something a little different against newcastle. We have seen that they are effective at defending crosses and long balls.

Re: Team v Newcastle
They’ve gone all out attack. Typical of Eddie. Only Shelvey in their MF with a tackle in him. If Westy & Josh Brownhill are at it we could see a lot of the ball. Can we use it is the question.

Shame for Ben Mee being injured but I think it's our strongest line up.

Yes. I mentioned on another thread the other night the way Mee ended the game I thought there wouldn't be much chance for him today. He was running with it almost in the same position as if it was dislocated.
Being an ex cricketer I can vouch any shoulder injury can really stiffen up and be sore, hopefully Mee's injury is nothing more than a knock.

If we can use it I don’t fancy their full backs. Today is a good chance to attack them wide.minnieclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 2:09 pmThey’ve gone all out attack. Typical of Eddie. Brownhill will have to make better use of the ball in possession than he normally does I feel

Thank heavens we bought Collins. He has come in very useful in almost half a dozen games. His extra pace to Mee's today could be a big factor

Just seen SD interviewed, pre-match, and it is Ben’s shoulder but hopeful for next game.
He actually said we have a break after this game but only a day as WHU play on Thursday.
