These are big changes for Burnley.
Of course, another first team starter would be great.

Just looking at the current Newcastle squad this morning they look to have 26 experienced players
Add to that Ekitike, Henderson, Target, Burn and Lingard !!!
Some people are going to be very disappointed with their game time - but maybe not their wages

Weghorst is a good signing, very pleased but we are desperate for a minimum of 2 more players to come straight into the starting line up.
Ain’t going to happen think this is our lot.

One wonders with Ramsay if the player himself isn’t confident of starting and playing well at the Turf.
He will be well aware this is a no excuses environment with Dyche demanding a certain level of fitness and in the midst of a torrid relegation battle. Maybe he just doesn’t fancy it?
On the flip side if we retain an interest we cannot have been completely rebuffed. It is one of those where I feel it is a win/win for us. Sign him, it is the right thing to do, don’t, maybe he wouldn’t have performed anyway. We don’t know how fit and eager he is.

Likewise - interestingly, I was told last week that we'd sort of moved on from him. He clearly didn't want to come here and if he does go to Rangers then he obviously wanted an easier option than the Premier League. Shame though, outstanding player.

And regarding Ramsey, if we are going to play 4-4-2, I don't think that would suit him at all

You’d struggle to find any decent player who wouldn’t have doubts about their future here, it’s normal & natural in our position, even top top players moving to the Barcelonas ect will have doubts but different doubts over whether they’ll get selected or make the grade, you’ll be waiting a very long time expecting anybody to not have some sort of a doubt.

I will pretty much guarantee that none of the 'surplus to requirements" will be moving to another Prem club today
Dean Smith has also said the same about Cantwell hence Bournemouth could be his only option

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Regards Ramsey, we can match if not better Rangers terms, however he is obviously not match fit.
Maybe he fancies toss1ng it off in the pub league for 6 months where he can play at 70% under no real pressure, infront of 50k every other week, and probably pick up an easy medal or 2 in the process.
I doubt he has the fight in him now for a Premier league relegation battle, and also probably doesn't want a relegation on his CV.
Move on to option 2 and 3 I say....

Agreed, top player. I’m not convinced he’s right for us, and particularly not if there were any doubts in his mind, but he’ll do brilliantly at Rangers I’m sure.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:53 amLikewise - interestingly, I was told last week that we'd sort of moved on from him. Also very pleasing that Pace spoke to him. You have to credit the man, he’s working hard at attracting the right calibre of player.

Those doubts will be assuaged by relegation clauses.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:58 amYou’d struggle to find any decent player who wouldn’t have doubts about their future here, it’s normal & natural in our position, even top top players moving to the Barcelonas ect will have doubts but different doubts over whether they’ll get selected or make the grade, you’ll be waiting a very long time expecting anybody to not have some sort of a doubt.
It's a gamble for WW but he will get an enhanced contract and half a season to show he can play in the Premier league.
I guess his thinking will be that if he can score and keep Burnley up then all good. If he scores but can't keep us up - someone else will take him and by all accounts Wolfsburg are in danger of relegation themselves and also look like they wanted to offload him so it's a bit of a no brainer for him at 29.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Think that will be us done for incomings, could be completely wrong but get the feeling the big lad and orsic were the main to they were confident about with a midfielder being a possibility. Fingers crossed we have more options but signing players in panic who won’t improve us E.G Dan Gosling won’t be the answer for me.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Largely agree, but we can say what we will about chances but actual stats show that generally we are surprisingly clinical with chances taken even if it doesn't feel that way- granted much less so this year. But with the amount of possession we have we do generally create fewer direct scoring chances than the opposition. Yes we create some every game but NO player scores all their clear chances every game.NewClaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 11:42 amI’m not having that we’ve not created enough chances this year. We’ve created clear cut chances in every game. Our issues are:
- not sticking them away
- not enough contribution from our midfield when we’re not
I agree the latter could be solved by strengthening in midfield, but also a more forward-thinking midfielder may leave us exposed at the back and concede more than he scores.
A second striker would be my preference over an attacking midfielder, with Cornet moving right where he’s delivered his best career stats.
Also I'm not even talking about a more attacking midfield- simply better midfield means better ball retention/turn over of possession, which means more time with the ball, also means better passes so fewer moves break down early and harder moves come off more. This all results in more and better chances created and hopefully fewer chances conceded because the engine room is better.
Weghorst will improve us and I'd love it if he bangs in 10 before the end of the season but even if he doesn't, that doesn't necessarily come down to him.

Maybe we will use the loan market.
It doesn't have to be a permanent transfer.
I'm still very, very hopeful

I thought they were five at the back with Roberts as an attacking wing back, and Ramsey in the hole behind Moore
Fair enough if that is the case though

I am optimistic of more signing. Don't think they will be panic. They will have been working behind the scenes on numerous deals and some will line up, some wont.
Players that were on that list might get better options, players that thought they were going to get better options might need to apply realism to their career.
Gosling not for me - would rather see Helm given a chance.

Well indeed we are bottom of the league with one win and few pundits are as confident now as they were before Christmas we will survive. So, there is bound to be doubts.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 12:33 pmI know all that & I agree with you, I just find it bizarre when certain posters take a dislike to people having doubts as if uprooting your family & often leaving friends behind & moving to another country is a straightforward task undertaken without any sort of hesitation.
Also the fact that we don't score many will be a factor for some albeit for others being key to the team will be important; particularly, for older players.
And of course friends and family but he is Dutch who tend to be quite anglophone.
And no doubt players think about what is good for them after their careers have ended and media opportunities will no doubt be better for those who have played in the Premiership as well as Eredivisie and the Bundesliga. I'm sure players and their agents think about all these things.

Origi would be class. Would seriously open up our attacking options and fix the wing positions as we could put Cornet on the right.
