Who the Hell is Will Lancaster?

Newcastle have agreed a few with Lyon for Guimares. Big signing for them.

Anyway, I was just repeating what he’d said, which had foundation from Croatia and was credited as such, which is hopefully good news. I wasn’t hanging on anything.

He’s class but I’ve read the player needs convincing as Arsenal / Juve were both in for him.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:46 amNewcastle have agreed a few with Lyon for Guimares. Big signing for them.
Edit - scrap that Fabrizio just confirmed he’s accepted the move.
Big signing for them.

Twitter has made the subject of transfer news open season. If I created an account and posted that Burnley were in talks to sign Isaac Hayden (plucked from the air!), despite having 0 Followers and having never tweeted before, it would suddenly be all over the shop.

True, it is a hotbed of rubbish. But I’m not even sure the supposed trusted journo’s know what’s happening with our business. It seems we’re keeping things relatively tight. Or at least I hope that’s what we’re doing or there’s less going on than I’d hoped!jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:53 amApologies it wasn’t intended as a dig at you specifically, just seem to be a billion faceless individuals who act like they know what’s going on for perceived clout (BenWickes on here for one).

Will has moved up in the world with some on this board after the criticism he received when he did a couple of articles on the site.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 11:08 amWill Lancaster, reporting Orsic keen on the move and happy to stay if we get relegated. Good news if true.
Also said we were the highest bidder for Azmoun but Leverkusen moved when we bid. He looked absolute quality. Pleased we’re at least attempting signings of this stature/ability.

Mislav Orsic said 'yes' to @BurnleyOfficial offer. As per our sources, @gnkdinamo is willing to let him go, but they want to be paid in full immediatly.

I posted the below further up this thread to exemplify how rumours start from nothing and how irritating it is that people just make stuff up and it gains traction. Even me saying the below in jest has proven the point true!

Apologies it wasn’t intended as a dig at you specifically, just seem to be a billion faceless individuals who act like they know what’s going on for perceived clout (BenWickes on here for one).
Twitter has made the subject of transfer news open season. If I created an account and posted that Burnley were in talks to sign Isaac Hayden (plucked from the air!), despite having 0 Followers and having never tweeted before, it would suddenly be all over the shop.

To be fair it depends where you look on twitter. Some very reliable journos on there.

Yeah, those slagging twitter off clearly don't get how it works
If you block all the Burnley nut jobs (ie those who retweet every single rumour regardless) and follow actual journos then you tend to get the info as quick as anyone can do it
I draw the line at watching twitch with Fabio though!

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
So just to recap at this stage and for those moaning earlier about no links, I believe we've had some great rumours and much improved from many a year gone by. If nothing else we've moved outside the UK & Ireland, which for me was a welcome change, clearly it seems our European network has suddenly improved or maybe just be taken seriously under the new regime.
Just to add the majority I've never seen so going off others in terms of will they improve us:
Mislav Orsic
One in the news and many of us hopeful for even if we didn't really know him before the window open, looks promising and seems to be following the Cornet saga when it broke we were after him in the summer. Fingers crossed on this happening.
Bamba Dieng
The Marseilles man has been the latest name to be linked with a move to the Clarets. It's another player currently plying his trade in the French top flight, a market Burnley are looking to exploit after the success of Maxwel Cornet.
A 21-year-old striker, others linked but a young striker just what we need.
Jack Fitzwater
The defender is apparently on the radar of the Clarets and fellow strugglers Watford and not for our 1st team to help with getting out of the relegation issue we're in.
Armand Laurienté
The French midfielder has been linked with a move to the Clarets. The 23-year-old is under contract at Lorient at 2024 At least we have a choice of players that could fill a weak position for us. An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, the French Under-21 international has four this season while he's also a free kick specialist.
Divock Origi
The Liverpool striker is into the final six months of his contract and reportedly has plenty of suitors. A player I like and would welcome but don't believe it will happen.
Christian Benteke
A striker with proven EPL experience but one I am not keen on and hopefully it will not be going anywhere, he himself doesn't seem keen, but if I remember right I heard I heard similar things attributed to Cornet in the summer.
Andy Carroll
A striker with proven EPL experience but one I could see on a short term agreement and definitely another that seems to fit the Dyche wish list but hopefully it will be an alternative last minute should others not happen
Serhou Guirassy
Another French forward, capable of performing the second striker role that Burnley are seeking, also touted it could be a loan, not likely from what I've read
Seko Fofana
Lens midfielder has appeared on the radar and his attributes fill the criteria for what Burnley want One I think quite a few would like to see happen, but seems a lot of talk with no traction.
Aaron Ramsey
Another one we know, I don't believe he would help at all and hoping it just another link that will go away.
Mason Holgate
Another we know, not what we need in my opinion and very doubtful there's anything in this.
Dan Neil
Young midfielder has caught the eye at Sunderland in league One this season and not one for this scrap we're in but perhaps one for the future.
Lyndon Dykes
Seems a few interested and more of our typical striker so can see why he would be linked
Joe Worrall
A player who has been linked with Burnley countless times in the past and not one we should be spending money on now unless it's with an eye to playing in a lower league soon. Don't expect anything from this
Nat Phillips
A long-term Burnley target who I would love to have but not sure he's needed unless something silly happens with Tark's, but I'd expect them to go for NP rather than Tark's at the silly price we are supposed to be asking right now.
Dael Fry
Another long-term Turf target with the Clarets but don't see it happening or that he's a requirement right now.
I'm sure I've missed a few and we can scratch a few off, but a running total of potentials for a few days might be helpful to keep track and look back on at the end.
I think if we had put this list up before the window opened we'd be happy, well most of us

I use Twitter plenty Lancaster (not for discussion of Burnley, bar following the usual's like Boden, Nixon etc) and see far too much of this happening. It's a great source of information but far too often descends into the old 'football-rumours.com' way of speculation (anyone remember that site being the scourge of Clarets Mad?).

Why are Sky mentioning Ramsey and us in the same sentence again? I understood that Ramsey wasn't prepared to come here because he wanted to go to a club with "ambition" (source is, er, Sky).

I might be wrong but it feels more like our offer is just sat there, and he hasn't accepted it as he clearly (and understandably, really) expects to get a better offer from a bigger club.
Maybe if we get to 8pm on deadline day without another offer going his way....
