If you read the article all he's really said is that big 20m+ players are not feasible. That's not really new. He even says he thinks the owners are looking to spend in Jan and there is money available.

Interesting comments he makes on Cornet as well:

“He [Cornet] has done well. We really like the look of him. He’s probably going to be more effective over time, off the left.

“But the transition to the Premier League, the quick play and the way the game changes very quickly, that’s something he’s got to develop into."

I completely agree he that he would be more effective from the left and perhaps that is why we are looking for a 10 (Fulgani links).
It was more his comments about January being a tough one and that it’s not just about money but about getting clubs to agree etc…

Looks Dyche has been given the remit to mute everyone’s expectations

Are you surprised we can't afford £20m+ players when you have correctly reminded people on here that the new owners don't have enough money?

I haven’t referred to £20m players?

I am referring to this paragraph.

“If we can affect it [the January window], I think the ownership is looking to. It’s not always about the money, you’ve got to get the agreement, get the club to agree, etc.
So januarys always a tough one”

To me that sounds very much like the last few windows under Garlick.

Looking like January is going to be similar to last January then.

For all of the huff and puff from Pace signing one first team starter across three transfer windows must be classed as disastrous recruitment
Would you rather he said “yeah! We’re in the market. Name your price we’re hunting”.

No incomings and Brownhill sold would be a good window for Newcastleclaret.

Calm down, I am just saying from them comments it very much sounds like we are going to have a lean January.

If we have a busy January fantastic. Not everything is an attack.

Talk of a decent pot for this window. Easily enough to get another 2 Cornets.

I know talk is cheap and even if we have money available it doesn't guarantee good players will come.

The big danger is will any clubs risk buying players, if they think the league might get shut down again?

To be honest Newcastle I'm not entirely sure Dyche really has that much knowledge. Think it will be down to the board and recruitment team. Dyche just says the right things to play down any rumors.
I do see what you mean about the comments though, it's disheartening and it's certainly easier not to be disappointed if you expect little!

Not sure why people are getting wound up about something Dyche has said . I mean it really doesn't matter what he meant. Can be interpreted however you want without breaking into arguments.

Be careful with your posts folks you never really know how bad you may make people feel by insulting others. We're all fans of the same club you know.

I read it as:

- we have money to spend
- we’d like to do business if we can
- we don’t have £20m to spend on one player though
- it’s a tough market in January because players are less likely to want to move and clubs less likely to want to sell

You’re right, he said similar under Garlick, most likely because it was true then & still is now.

I’m not usually a fan of the loan market but given our league position, I’m hoping that’s something we’ll be looking at to get some big, ready-made signings. I’m fine with Hill/Fry like signings if we see potential in them, but that’s not really going to help us over the last 5 months.

Brilliant news, if true.

I’m hoping AP and his team look at that risk as a potential opportunity for SD to do more work with them before it restarts. That said, I think it might stop without fans but I can’t see them halting it altogether.

With this new blast of covid and the chance of postponements more clubs will be selling to survive. Fire sales and prices tumbling would be useful.

Just chat with people.

That's why I put talk in there as nothing concrete. Not that there is anything concrete in football until it's official.

The thoughts are that clubs will be reluctant to send players out on loan as they want to keep the numbers available in case they lose players catching covid

I assume the type of player we would be targeting to loan wouldn’t be in the big teams 25 anyway?

Makes a change from bizarre ejaculations of “ALL IS DROSS” during a window that was ultimately, by recent standards, not at all bad.

Maybe give yourself a breather this time. We’re still a fortnight from the window opening.

Sounds more like a chinese takeaway than a pair of footballers. And on that note we've probably got more chance of a takeaway than two new signings.

I'd be tempted with taking someone like Eddie Nketiah on loan. He's stated he wants first team matches and Arsenal will want a good price.

As such he comes to us in order to bud up his reputation. Yep, means we are a shop window for him but it serves all parties.

As wilks_bfc said above though, I can’t imagine any PL clubs will be loaning their better squad players whilst this situation is ongoing. Hoping we’ve identified loan targets abroad if that’s what we’re going for.

Seen a report today that Dyche wants 2. A number ten and a Striker. This would go hand in hand with the comments of Cornets long term future on the left. Wonder how much is in the Fulgani link?
Don't see how McNeil fits in our plans currently as he hasn't looked good on the right.

Given he is the 4th heighest rated u21 player in the league. I don’t imagine it will hard to find a space for him.

With Cornet on the left and potentially a new striker and a number 10, I'm struggling to see where he will feature other than out right.
I like McNeil but for a player I thought we might build a side around he seems to be the next one playing out of position, I don't want to see that.

Aribo is an interesting shout, and Rangers might well have to sell one or two to balance the books.

25 and plays in CM, but can also play on the right. 18 months left on his present contract, so Rangers might be willing to listen to a reasonable offer.

My only concern is he's yet to register a goal or an assist this season, so he hardly sounds like the solution to our lack of creativity.

Joe Aribo, had to wiki him. Goals from MF would be a major plus.

Apologies so he has, no idea why I didn't find that info initially, in that case sign him up pronto.

What's notable to me is that we're now bring linked to younger players who are approaching the prime of their careers hopefully, now whether this is down to the new owners or not I don't know, but it's a nice change in policy which is long overdue, and long may it continue.

Yes see my previous reply, and as our strikers can't hit a barn door ATM. then any goals from our midfield could be crucial in the final shake-up.

He'd also add some much needed energy to the engine room, which we've been severely lacking for far too long now.

If we only sign 1 in the January window, CM has to be the priority for me, we can't keep allowing teams to just waltz through us like a knife through butter.
