Positives

Post by claret2018 » Sat Dec 04, 2021 5:29 pm

I know that was awful and we look like nailed-on relegation material, but what are the positives right now?

I would say we’ve been here before and this is the sort of result that makes us go on to win the next 3 or 4.

Collins was good
JBG was good
Charlie was good
Pope remains the best keeper at dealing with crosses
We weren’t robbed by VAR this time

The winning run "used" to happen, but now I am fearing its too much for us. One win since we beat Fulham in April says wins have become rare . Failure to beat or outplay Norwich and Newcastle give me big concerns. We have to hope sides like Saints and Brentford tumble

Please, stop it now. You know there aren't any positives. We've just lost to side who haven't won a game all season (it's December), and we now look as vulnerable to relegation as we have done since we came back up in 2016.

Hmm! Collins impressed again, Taylor was good and didn't deserve to finish on the losing side, Jay offered a threat when he came on, and he should definitely be considered for a starting place against West Ham.

And despite not being at our best it was only a howler by Pope that caused us to concede, so defensively we're definitely showing signs of improvement.

The big concern is where are the goals and wins coming from, particularly if Cornet isn't available for sometime.

The positive for me is that Roberts got time, and I feel now he deserves a start. Something has to change

We always get poorer results without Ben. We need him playing for that reason on it’s own.

I have no concerns about our defence-in fact our goal difference is worth a point. Its the lack of threatening the opposition and conversion of the few chances we create from open play

Not cut adrift yet.
6 points off 11th with a game in hand.
Team won't give up.

Best I can do.

Taylor, Collins and JBG played well
Dyche made changes to try to impact the game
Still a long way to go
The league is full of poor teams and nobody in the bottom half is more than 6 points clear of us
I don't have to stay up for Match of the Day

We played well. Watford are already losing and, by winning our game in hand, we will be out of the relegation zone. It ain't over until the fat lady sings.

Long way to go and despite this really really poor run of not winning games we are not in anyway cut adrift.

We were in a similar position last season and managed to pull it around.

Big job on though.

That's the major concern, and until we resolve those issues wins will remain hard to come by, we've been competitive in every match this season, even against the likes of City and Liverpool, but it's once again the lack of goals which is worrying, normally we can rely on Wood to chip in with 10-12 a season, however that doesn't look like happening this term, and Cornet our present leading scorer could well be side-lined in our busiest period of the season.

Despite beating us, Newcastle still look like they may struggle to beat many other teams.

Like us, there is a reason they've only won one game this season.

So the positive is... yes we're going down, but Newcastle are coming with us...?

Call me forward thinking, but, as we're now nailed on for the drop, I'd actually prefer it if Newcastle stayed up. It'll make the Championship far harder next season.

Collins is going to be an absolutely fantastic player. His awareness and positional sense are second to none.

Lawton’s done nothing wrong but Roberts should start for his long long throw alone. It’s time to go proper old school. Needs must.

Newcastle actually looked worse than we did, so the Geordie celebrations are misplaced and premature. Both teams to go down!

Sport is about mental strength as much as anything.
If we take a step back a minute, Newcastle celebrated like they've won the league, Norwich have been on a good run. Both these teams now think they're going to get out of the bottom 3,and despite of all this, they're still on the same points as us!!

There's very little we can do as fans to influence performances, that bring results other than give the boys all our support.

If I was a fan of a team in and around us, I'd still be very worryingly looking at us thinking Burnley will grind out results as they're experienced in these battles.

As much as I would have liked a win today, we are still only 2 wins away from being level with 11th. Easy to say and I’m fully aware that it’s hard to see where the next win is coming from, but we’ve just got to keep going I suppose!
A point against West Ham, a hard fought win against Watford and we re-assess.

3 points from safety with a game in hand and 2/3rds of the season to play.

Get a grip soft lads, we're nowhere near relegated yet.

Had to get the metro after the game .My daughter lives in Newcastle. The cockiness and celebrations were difficult to take, but if that’s the mentality (they have played a game more) and it was like it was their Cup Final , then move on
We were much better than them first half .

They will get relegated
