Given the current situation does anyone really think the ACN will go ahead? And if it does how many players would go knowing what they’d have to do when they come back. I’m not sure but it all seems a doubt right now.SalisburyClaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 05, 2021 12:36 pmThis injury plus the Africa Cup of Nations means he'll possibly miss the next 8 games - January's window is ever more crucial

Re: Cornet
According to his Instagram post his injury is good news. Only saw his caption posted on twitter as I'm not on there, others will probably follow him on here and know if more details were released.
Cornet going and playing in a warm climate for a month might do the lad the world of good, instead of playing in freezing conditions over here.
He won't miss many matches because of the fa cup.

Re: Cornet
Don't know what the situation is going to be with the ACN but I'm not expecting to see Cornet playing again for us this side of the new year.

Going to be a real struggle without him for 2 months. Might even be the writing on the wall for us.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 11:48 amDon't know what the situation is going to be with the ACN but I'm not expecting to see Cornet playing again for us this side of the new year.

On Instagram he said "the news [on his injury] was reassuring".
Read into that what you will.

Yes he said “thank you for all your messages, it made me so happy. The news is reassuring, see you soon”
We'll see what Sean says but that sounds like a shorter term one to me. Fingers crossed for Watford.

Re: Cornet
Can't see there being any chance of playing in 8 days if he has a thigh strain.
Re: Cornet
Outside chance according to Dyche.

Dyche said “ touch and go “ yesterday so we can be guaranteed he won’t be starting for a while at least

Same poster who was making sarky comments about Burnley fans who had travelled for our game at Villa.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 2:57 pmReally good that, trying to mock my comments yet another 19 days on he still wasn't available.
Re: Cornet
I really can't see him starting but to go to the efforts of allowing him to leave for AFCON later, he must surely make the bench.

Some of media this morning mentioning 4 players who missed last night's game with covid-19: Nick Pope, Jay Rodrigues, Josh Brownhill and Maxwel Cornet.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 2:57 pmReally good that, trying to mock my comments yet another 19 days on he still wasn't available.

Re: Cornet
Watford have pulled Dennis out of the tournament, if he’s not fit to play for Burnley you could argue he isn’t fit to go to the tournament as well.
Re: Cornet
Cornet has already had and recovered from Covid. And Dyche himself said 'a couple', not 4.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 3:19 pmSome of media this morning mentioning 4 players who missed last night's game with covid-19: Nick Pope, Jay Rodrigues, Josh Brownhill and Maxwel Cornet.

Re: Cornet
SD saying players are possibilities, then not seeing them for 4 or 5 weeks, is so common it's become predictable.
Maybe he knows why he does it, but I doubt anyone else does. If they aren't available just say so. The idea that a player isn't making the team as a precaution, and is still missing 6 games later is stupid. Once maybe, but not all the time.
As fans, paying fans at that, the least we deserve is a bit of honesty from our own club, and we've had precious little of it over the last 4 years. The same goes for the young lads who've vanished from the U23s, for any of our players. We are part of the club, and will be long after Sean and the board have moved on, just tell it as it is, Please.

He could be allowing the opposing manager to think a player has a chance of starting, even if the chances are slim.Colburn_Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 31, 2021 5:14 pmSD saying players are possibilities, then not seeing them for 4 or 5 weeks, is so common it's become predictable.

Re: Cornet
It's been going on so long I doubt even opposition managers take any notice of him, and let's face it, which opposition manager is worried about which Burnley XI they'll face.
