Is Dyche Safe?

Post by JohnMcGreal » Sat Dec 04, 2021 7:43 pm

1 win in 14 games is relegation form, and I don't think we've ever had such a barren run under Dyche.

Now, there was no chance of him being dismissed under the previous stewardship, and they'd always back him to get things right eventually. Even if he took us down, the club was in good shape financially, and they'd have backed him to be the best man to take us back up. His position was rock solid.

But is his position as secure under the new regime? The club is clearly in a much more precarious position than it was 2 years ago, and Premier League status is now much more critical to the club than it was previously.

So with that in mind, will Pace be as patient? Or will he hit the panic button and make a change if he can see his (and his partners) investment going down the pan?

Other than those ropey first few months of his reign in 2012, I think this is the first time that I can see a scenario where his position genuinely comes under question. I still think that's quite unlikely, but if we haven't bucked up by the end of the year, January might well be an interesting month.

It is a decent question and without putting a knee jerk reaction - I suppose the bigger question is who would you replace him with at this juncture?

Zola :D

With that new long term deal he's only as safe as our owners are unable to pay him off to sack him, so we don't know. Very likely he'll see our his decade with us though. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing...

I don't think any of us know what Pace is likely to do at this point.

He appears to genuinely believe in Dyche, but he will also be acutely aware of how perilous our financial position will become should we be relegated. It will likely mean a fire sale of assets, which in turn makes it less likely we will quickly return to the PL. The model upon which we now operate appears to be totally dependent on PL money, so relegation can probably be described as disastrous for the club now.

I've thought for a while though that the club has the hallmarks now of a huge period of transition when the current manager does leave, given his influence over every part of the club.

It's amazing that BFC were even professional before Dyche came along. He is the start and end of the club.

He won’t be sacked and I don’t want him to be, but we’ve won 4 league games in last 29.

There’s only a handful of managers who can shake off that kind of form.

Be fascinating to see how the the likes of McNeil and even Cornet might perform under Lampard.

Dyche was a centre-half and that will continue to dominate his defensive mindset.

He won't get sacked at Burnley but I don't think he would survive this at any other club.

We are joint bottom of the league with 2 clubs who have already sacked their manager and the club above us have as well.

I would just hope we try better coaching staff before the manager.

He will be. But even if he wasn't I don't see the move being made now in such a busy period, thus if there are doubts at board level they may not wish to spend in January and save that kitty for the new boss. Me personally, this conversation comes up every year and every year he keeps is up, I can't put my finger on it but something just doesn't feel right at the minute but I hope I am wrong

Will the board want to risk relegation with the finances at play ? I like watching Championship football but we need to do everything we can to stay up. Being in the Championship under this regime and debt structure is very concerning from a financial perspective.

Sean’s first priority should be to the extend the contracts of Bards, Erik, Lenno, Long and Stephens. Their experience will be invaluable in the Championship, not something you can just readily buy. This isn’t a time for panic or gambles. #4moreyears.

Certainly would mean that any safety net would be employed and the pressure to get back up intensified.

I agree. If he can look A Pace in the eye and say give me some money and I will buy another player like Cornet who can contribute to a game then he's got a point, but I fear that Cornet wasn't his signing and he wanted old heads such as Ashley Young where Pace must be thinking that's the reason why we are in the position we are now.
So, no I don't think he's safe.

This is disingenuous nonsense. And even if it was true I'm sure the majority of supporters will look back at our hugely successful period with appreciation for the massive achievements.

There's so much to admire about the man, except the most important thing, and that's his approach to matters on the pitch.
