Have to admire the levels of hurt our fans feel, but agree we don’t take a blow well. All the fragility that they bombast the players for.

Re: They're out the woodwork
Today was a bitter blow, but it certainly wasn't terminal to our season.
And in the last 9 games we've only lost twice, so those folks calling for Dyche's head seriously need to get a grip, yes things aren't great ATM, but we've had far worse scenarios and survived, let's just wait and see where we are following the Christmas schedule before writing the season off quite yet.

We all feel the hurt and simply want us to survive. Performances have been good enough to win but... fine margins... a penalty not given here, a poor decision there, a slip on the Turf, and even a dropped ball.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:59 pmHave to admire the levels of hurt our fans feel, but agree we don’t take a blow well.

Re: They're out the woodwork
Well I "go and watch us" and I had 2 days in Wolverhampton followed by 3 days here in Newcastle and we deserved our draw at Wolves without really looking threatening and we really deserved a draw at the very least today! BUT, we have to be honest, we lost to a really poor team today who I still believe will go down and hadn't beaten ANYBODY all season and if that's not a marker of how poor we've become at "grinding out results when it matters" then I don't know what is. If you lose to City it's really not doom and gloom. If you lose to this shower up here, it definitely is (imo!)Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 8:59 pmLuckily most of them don’t actually go and watch us so you’ll not hear it at the games

Re: They're out the woodwork
Just two clean sheets all season for Newcastle, I think. Both against us.
Re: They're out the woodwork
All BFC fans are entitled to an opinion, whether that be positive or negative. The reason being is we are all pationate about our club. Some will sit and look for the positives some will look how we could have done better and feel better to get this off their chests with like minded fans who know the subject matter. If there is 1 thing I have learned in life in life in the the last 12 months, it is never stop anyone talking and give everyone their chance to talk. We all want the same thing some are glass half full some are glass half empty, but we all want the same thing.

Re: They're out the woodwork
Oh stop it. We lost to a team who had not won a game all season, and it's December. They've not even looked like winning a game all season until we showed up today. It's not unfair to call out how awful the result was today, along with the response after going a goal down, when it leaves us looking as vulnerable to relegation we have done since we came back up in 2016.
As I've said many times before, this is a fans discussion forum. It's a totally different forum to the Turf. So this "shut up and get behind the team" stuff is irrelevant on this forum, as it makes no difference to the outcome of a game, unlike the atmosphere on a game. Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise that people criticise on here but don't bring it to the Turf.

In 18/19 we got 5 points over a period of twelve matches. We had 12 points at the half way mark and survived with three games to spare, gaining 28 points in the second half of the season.
Well, you did ask!

Re: They're out the woodwork
I tend to think we froze on the day (our attacking anyway) which is hugely disappointing but we were also unlucky (a half error, a crucial injury, bad luck hitting the post and a tight offside).
I think we’ll stay up. But we’ve made it hard for ourselves, our chances of relegation have probably tripled today, and Cornet may have played his last Burnley game till February (African Nations etc).
A balanced view. That feels appropriate tonight.

Re: They're out the woodwork
I have been to every match home and away this season and the two things that have been consistent is the players performance and dyches inability to change tactics.
You need to stop blaming the board, the officials and the players. Dyche picks the team and the tactics - he is responsible.
We have the lowest total shots in the league https://www.footstats.co.uk/index.cfm?task=league_other which paints a picture.

Re: They're out the woodwork
Whether we "deserved" to lose or not today is irrelevant, the fact is that we lost. Furthermore we went in a goal down at half time when Pope had nothing to do in the first half, except collect a few crosses. This is the definition of relegation football.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 9:23 pm

In the second half we had no shots on the goal when we were behind in the scoring. I could have played in goal for Newcastle.

Well JBG hit the post, JRod scored but was a few inches offside and Cornet brought a decent save from what I think was a scuffed header. Had he placed it where he intended it could well have been a goal. Vydra fluffed his lines when through, not for the first time.

OK you happy clappers/ostriches. Keep burying your head in the sand.
One win in 17.
10 goals in 14 games.
Game plan (if there is one) goes out the window the minute we go a goal down.
Plan B? You could have fooled me.
Midfield? What? Who? Where?
Pace/speed - who? None.
Brentford apart, we couldn't beat Norwich, Leeds, Brighton, Palace and now Newcastle (who hadn't won a game prior).
Just who are going to win against?
And folk are slagged off on here for being doom & gloom/ not proper fans/ where were you in Div 4 ? yadda yadda.
Unless there is a seismic change, it's the Championship next season.

Just home.
We’ve played poorly for the last two games but only conceded one goal. We had our chances today, and had say JBG’s shot gone the other side of the post, or even Pope’s clanger not occurred, I think we’d have gone on to win it. Certainly no need to overreact. Things are not going for us at the moment though.

Re: They're out the woodwork
I’m definitely not anti Dyche /or a Dyche out man after what he’s given us. However he has a huge role to play in this (less than Garlick but still a role). This side wont stay up. It’s won 2 in 24/ 1 in 14… lost / drawn winnable games and needs a run beyond what it’s produced in that last 12 months. It’s a squad full of workers and devoid of quality and unfortunately when we do go down we could spiral / flounder at best. We started the season playing quite well… and we won 1 game that’s what scares me the most

That’s the sanest comment on here tonight. The issue is we’re playing ok but just not winning and that’s a massive worry.
It’s probably what Dyche means when he’s jabbering on about “details”. It’s a pretty important detail!

Re: They're out the woodwork
I agree that there doesn’t yet seem to be a sense of urgency to go out & get wins. I sense an attitude that “we’ve been here before, we’ll be fine”. Today wasn’t a horrendous performance or result but there was a lack of urgency; balls being played behind players, constantly checking back instead of taking risks, etc. Dyche definitely needs to demand more to go out and start getting wins and that means making changes.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:47 pmI’m definitely not anti Dyche /or a Dyche out man after what he’s given us. Re: They're out the woodwork
I still say those that would prefer to see him go are nuts.
Someone contested the fact that he hasn't had money to spend !
It's madness, we are paupers in this division, we have been since he arrived comparatively.
Do you really believe he would choose ageing players to do his work on the pitch ?
Its a bad run admittedly, but that's all it is. How can supporters dismiss previous achievements so easily?
even a relatively short lived run would see us clear the drop slot, and theres plenty of games left to do that.
He is our best manager unquestionably, but inevitably impatient fans who basically know nowt, immediately want a replacement. Dyche is by far and away the best option for continued success in this league.
And moaning about his selections and substitutions on the back of defeats is gibberish.
The critics normally fade into the background on the back of a good win, but as soon as we need to dig in, the knives come out. Poor , really poor.

Re: They're out the woodwork
In the last 38 premier league games, (equal to a full PL season,) we have won 8, drawn 12 and lost 18. Points 36. Not great, but its been a while since a team with 36 went down. I’m also concerned about our current form but the sample size in your quote may not be big enough. That being said, it hard to see anyone outside the current bottom four being relegated, and Newcastle will probably buy their way out of trouble in January.KlyBfc wrote: ↑Sat Dec 04, 2021 10:47 pmI’m definitely not anti Dyche /or a Dyche out man after what he’s given us.
